Maybe, not much to see, but if you like lumps and bumps, trying to imagine how the castle once looked? Archaeologists dream.

Not much to see in the field but the local Historic group are working on it to see if they can uncover the hidden secrets

Good for dog walking and kids running. Medieval castle entirely gone. Attractive setting on a now canalised peninsula.

Could be much much better if the council put some effort into keeping it clean. Broken bottles and glass often posed a danger to our dog. And sharp dangerous ripped drinks cans were never removed when the grass was cut. As a couple who lived near the site, It was useful as a dog excercise area, but we had to keep a look out for potential paw cutting debris, and often collected one sometimes two full bags of litter. Castle?? It's a joke!! Council need to make the site more interesting. It's like seeing a sign for a sweet shop and all that's inside is a blob of chewing gum...

Beautiful bit of land where allegedly the castle was. This was allegedly to housed Henry VIII for a night or two and was mainly inhabited by the bishop of Lincoln. Great area for a change of scenery for the dog. There isn't a lot to do but if you've reached that time of life where a natural area gets you going. This is a great for you. Take different outed round and notice something new. 3 stars because location can be spoiled by passing trains...

Interesting site, but little to see above ground except the remains of one collapsed portion of the Inner Bailey curtain wall, and some earthworks indicating the position of the moat dividing the Inner and Outer Bailys, and some internal buildings. Popular place with dog walkers (some not particularly attentive, judging by the amount of dog pooh) and feral kids(judging by the litter & drink cans), but still worth a visit if you're...
