Not eaten, literally looked in on my way to catch a train after the Street Food and Artisan Market at Mlllstream Square closed, that was a month ago. Pleasant ambience and very helpful friendly staff.
Very impressed by the lever operated espresso machine though it deserves better than catering supply coffee. I suggest try Seven Districts, a local roastery.
A month ago, following Street Food and Artisan Market in Millstream Square, I looked in Tablez, admired the lever espresso machine, grabbed a takeaway coffee and headed to catch a train. My coffee was not good and I poured it away. A month later, with more time to spare, I decided to relax outside with a coffee.
What size of cappuccino did I want? There is only one size, the correct size.
A long wait, I began to wonder had I actually placed an order and was about to leave and head to the station when my coffee arrived.
No, do not put chocolate on a cappuccino, or if tempted to, at least ask first. An excellent coffee shop would never dream of asking, for the simple reason they do not put chocolate on a cappuccino, it ruins good coffee. Chocolate is added in a crude attempt to mask bad coffee.
I took one sip, it was disgusting, headed for the station. I missed my train, strictly speaking, it failed to turn up, cancelled. I headed back to Tablez, my coffee was still sitting on the table. I took it back in, asked for without chocolate and smaller cup size.
Again a long wait. The young guy apologised for the wait and that the coffee was not very good.
Why the long wait each time I do not know, as not busy and staff milling around.
Looking at the menu on the wall, Tablez clearly take a great pride in their food, sourcing quality, locally, or at least claim so. Why therefore insult customers with cheap low quality catering supply coffee?
Something will not get in Sleaford, a decent coffee, and Tablez no exception. For a decent coffee have to head to Lincoln, to either Coffee Aroma or Madame Waffle.
But why does it have to be?
The ambience in Tablez excellent, very pleasant to sit outside of an evening, why not therefore turn into a specialty coffee shop and bistro, serving speciality coffee, excellent wine, good food and craft beer?
Source coffee locally from Seven Districts. Whether they would wish to supply a moot point, they would have to be convinced of the equipment, the baristas.
I would emphasise, based on my experience of the coffee and ambience, I have not tried the food.
The coffee alone 2, raised to 3 by pleasant staff and ambience.
Badly let down by the coffee,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter today visit I lost my faith on hoping one day there are good coffee in any restaurants/bistros apart from specialty coffee shops. We ordered the classic burger and egg royal with a kids meal. Classic burger was somewhat disappointed because the patty was advertised homemade, I felt the patty was chunky and not minced properly, it felt more like a meatball patty. Other then that was average and as expected. Fries are clearly frozen fries and coleslaw portion was small. The bacon was more like dehydrated ham rather then crispy bacon. Egg royal was on the small side. Muffins was like shop bought just cut in half and only got a tiny bit of salmon, with lots of sauce and parsley.. kids meal was okay didnāt expect much from it, just lots of fries.. the worse was the coffees. Ordered two flat white, but when they came they looked like cappuccino badly made. The foam was so thick that after 30 min they were still there and looked like they put washing liquid in there. We only took a sip a and did not drink them at all. It almost burned my month because the milk was clearly over heated. Went to look at the coffee menu and didnāt make sense to me. All drinks are same price (latte, cappuccino, flat white, and macchiato too?) asked the bar men and clearly they have no idea how these drinks should be served. No wonder why my flat white tasted like latte, only it was served in a cup instead of a tall glass, and it would taste no different to a cappuccino. It literally looks like a cappuccino. Gave two stars because the young lady who helped us cancel the drinks from the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here with family for brunch on a sunday morning, had booked and reserved a table and it was very busy. Staff took our order and our drinks came reasonably quickly, however the food was another matter. Our food order took over an hour to arrive, the waiting staff coming past our table did apologise, but we observed other customers coming in after us, ordering and getting their food before ours. When it did arrive, 2 of the orders were wrong and they had to take them away and correct it. That being said when the food did arrive it was very good. I had smoked salmon, scrambled egg on sour dough, which was good, and my wife had the turkish eggs which were also very good. So often when you have something on sourdough, the slices can be a bit measly, but here they were nice chunky slices!
In summary, food was good, but was severely let down by some shocking customer service and the staff had no inclination to offer anything more than a mumbled apology. In their own words they were scared to chase the chef for our orders, seems like they work in a toxic environment.
Had the service been good, this would have been a 5 star review, but that shocking service has meant its a one (only because I...
