On a recent trip to Norfolk and sightseeing the area came across this chippy. The plan was to take a bag of chips and eat in sun as we had my dog. When I asked of a local dog friendly cafe I was told ‘we do drinks’ ‘we also have toilet facilities’ ‘and if your dog is friendly you can sit in’ the man even offered to plate our chips up. Well who could refuse. We only had chips in paper and a hot drink but they were lovely. The menu looked good. Except cod!! From Grimsby, we have haddock. The chips were nothing special, the curry sauce was too sweet and the mushy peas tasted out of a tin. However the worst part was the battered fish which were absolutely awful, the batter was so undercooked, it was pale in colour, mushy and soggy with a very weird texture and taste. Fortunately the fish was just cooked inside, so we scraped off all the batter , which laid in a pale mound of sogginess on our plates. Very off putting. We will definitely not go back and stick...

Great to find a place that really understands coeliac disease and has separate friers to prepare gluten free alternatives including fish, battered sausages, chicken etc clearly marked on menu board as gluten free options. We booked to eat in so friers were on and ready for cooking otherwise there might be a wait for gluten free. Everything cooked fresh to order so expect a short wait.
