What a wonderful place.
Happened to stop in Holt, away from the madness of the North Norfolk coast road and found The Kings Head.
Would add more than five stars if possible for the ambience, food and staff - everything is professional, clean and easily the best we've come across in North Norfolk.
So much so that, after visiting on a Thursday, we made the 80 mile round trip again two days later just to visit for the wonderful staff, menu and local ales.
Writing this on a Sunday, sat in the restaurant area (there is also a bar and snug, all with seating/food and open fire in the front bar) as we were quite bored in Wells-next-the-Sea and only 15 miles away.
Three visits in four days and we're already planning a day trip from home (round trip of 370 miles) for later in the year.
You're brilliant @TheKingsHead, thanks for making every customer feel special.
[EDIT] June 2023 So we made it back to @TheKingsHead at lunchtime on a Saturday - felt like being home again.
Not only did we get a wonderful greeting from the staff but we managed to get the same table as last year and they remembered us (how with so many people that must go through there each season). Amazing.
Food: I'd forgotten the skin-on fries (but cooked and taste like proper chips) and the slow-cooked pork burger I had was as good as the other meals we'd had...

I tried to ask her what that was all about but she just said it was policy. We had intended on having desert but when a young man came to see if all was well as they do I asked him if it was in fact policy to require payment before customers were finished eating, he said it was although it wasn't apparent on any other table especially the one next to us with two babies on it. I told him that in 65 years I had never been subjected to such a policy, he said that people would run up a large bill then leave without paying, I asked him if we looked like the kind of people who would leave without paying but he had no answer to that. Needless to say we didn't attempt to order desert and whilst the food was of a high standard we will not be returning. The issue of non-payers is something most retail outlets have to deal with but if you want to harm your business in another way insult your elderly...
