Terrible service, terrible food and very overpriced. The staff were rude and brash, no acknowledgement when we arrived. We waiting at the sign to be served and were ignored by no less than three members of staff, pushing their way through but not even taking the time for a simple greasing, let along an “excuse me”. Once we were eventually acknowledged, we were argued with about having a booking and told they were full. When I provided evidence of the email confirmation of our booking, the waitress begrudgingly took us to a table (clearly not full).

We ordered a selection of sandwich’s, drinks and sweets, all much to our disappointment. The match latte (if you can even call it that) was horrendous, tasted like cut grass, please learn how to make them properly! The tea was definitely not the one we ordered, however when we sent it back and reordered it still had the same weird taste. All the food was very flavourless and tough, (so I’m assuming heated in a microwave), they claim using the finest local ingredients, which is the only thing I can see for them to justify the ridiculous prices of everything, despite that, the “local ingredients” certainly did not reflect in the quality or flavour of the food. On top of all this, the food and drinks took and age to come out, and of course, zero apology for the overly long waiting times.

Very disappointed, would...

This place is a tardis! We stumbled across the tea rooms whilst exploring Holt. We went in for a light snack for lunch and had a problem on our hands as everything looked delicious. We decided to eat in, please note its best to book a table here, we were lucky to get a table by chance. We had a cake each and coffee. As soon as we sat down we were brought ice cold water with some lovely metal cups. The service was really friendly, warm and welcoming. It was super busy in there and the service was still fanstatic. The mocha was very good! We had a piece of the brownie which was soft and gooey, and the apple crumble cake with custard which was out of this world! When leaving we were speaking to one of the staff about the sausage rolls as thinking about returning to pick some up on our route hone. She said we can order them in advance as everything is baked fresh daily and also means if sell out ours will be put by, great additional service! We ordered one of each of the sausage rolls and paid for them. We returned the next day and they were all packaged up ready. So glad we got them, the gourmet sausage roll is something else!!!!!! The chorizo sausage roll is so unique and tastes amazing, and your typical sausage roll is...

Walking through Holt we noticed what looked like a lovely little bakery cum cafe and decided to stop for cup of tea and a bun, how wrong could we be. As we walked through the front shop there was a notice prior to the rear cafe that said "Please wait here to be seated", so we waited and waited and waited while staff pushed through the narrow hallway to and from the rear cafe with no acknowledgement! There were tables in the rear and empty tables to the front of the shop. Still staff passed by as if we were wearing an invisibility cloak! In the end I managed to catch the eye of what looked like a senior member of staff (when I say catch the eye, I think I must have been staring 🤔) Even then she was very brusque and said "Yes! What do you want?", to which I replied "a table please", without changing her tone she replied "We're full!" If they didn't want the business they should have put a sign up, there are several other, really good cafes in Holt. Customer service really is their strong point! So we took ourselves off for really good service across the road in the cafe of Bakers & Larner where they were only too keen to be polite and courteous ❤️ So sorry to say The Owl Tea Rooms do not offer a...

I really loved this place! I came here on our last day on holiday in Norfolk and it did not disappoint. They have a huge menu and everyone I was with thoroughly enjoyed what they had to eat and drink. The Swiss hot chocolate was new for me and lovely and creamy and sweet - it felt quite decadent and had just the right amount of almond. My breakfast was also really good- I and the sweet potato avocado and bacon on toast. The bacon and egg were delicious and full of flavour. I added on a sausage which was the same high quality taste. I would suggest swapping the sweet potato for normal toast as it wasn’t that crispy and a bit bland. The staff were friendly and joked along with us which was really nice. You can have dogs in the outside area and they offered us blankets as it was a surprisingly cold day. The outside area is a bit basic and dreary but inside looked really cosy and inviting. I would definitely come back (without a dog this time!).

Usually come here with my mum and Nan for lunch and it’s usually really nice. But today I went in to get my boyfriend an ice coffee, I asked the man what flavours they do as I wanted to know if they had caramel to which I was replied with ‘coffee flavour’ I was then charged £3.80 when on the board warm lattes were cheaper and considering they put less coffee in and more ice I found it unreasonable that they charged me more than a normal latte. Not only that it was tiny and I found my experience has made me not want to come back, and it’s our usual spot to go to as we’re local. I felt the customer service wasn’t great and I struggle to order as sometimes I stutter and find it hard to get my words out, and I don’t feel like the response to my question was met in the most polite way even though I understand that it too me a while to ask my question.
