Thai Ubon Restaurant — Restaurant in North Norfolk

We went to the restaurant on a Wednesday night mid September. We were the only customers but we were having a good time as a group of friends so it didn't matter . The service was good and the hosts were friendly. The starters of spare ribs - great , large and very tasty the spring rolls very underwhelming . The mains were plentiful, tasty and what you would expect to pay especially for seafood in a restaurant . The only real bugbear which sounds a bit petty was a portion of plain noodles as a side dish was only available as a veg ( no meat) dish priced at £10 . All mains should come with either rice...

We have been visiting the restaurant for many years when on holiday in Wroxham and always enjoyed it. Last night the experience was very different. We ordered 2 starters one of which did not arrive. We then had the duck with pancakes. The duck is served like mincemeat and was cold. We sent it back and it came back seemingly microwaved. The main courses were generally fine and the noodles were very nice. When the bill arrived we were amazed to see a £2 charge for the ice for our wine and water (see attached photo of our bill which was not cheap). That is a first for us and sadly will be our last...

It pains me to say so ... one of the most disappointing meals I've ever had in a restaurant. Worse, because it was a treat by a very kind person, yet the food served was dire. We went in the evening. For most of our stay, 90 minutes to 2 hours, we were the only two people, in a place with about 40 seats. That tells you all you need to know.
