The Bakehouse — Restaurant in North Norfolk

I visit here frequently as I live locally. However, I might not come any more due to the rude assistant (never seen her there before). I was wedged in the doorway, unable to move backwards because of the queue behind me, and couldn't go in anyway because I had the dog so was going to ask for my order at the door. Anyway, one of the assistants appeared with an armful of bakes to put on the outside table and says abruptly "i'll serve you in a minute. I've got my arms full and I can't do everything at once!". Well, excuse me! I hadn't asked anything at this point. So on her way back, I said I couldn't bring dog in could I, and she said "no. That's why I said I'd serve you at the door" (I hadn't heard that), and then proceeded to serve me in an accusatory manner as though i had wrongfooted her. Never had this experience before at this previously lovely little bakery....

Bought a fruit Danish pastry and a Chelsea bun this morning. Upon eating both were full of ants!! Absolutely shocking. If I hadn't uncurled the pastry before eating i would have had a mouth full of the creatures. Tried the bun....and that was full of them too. Having purchased from this bakery for years it was such an awful...

Bought a yummy fruit and nut loaf from this little independent bakery. Was lucky enough to meet the owner Quentin who took the time to chat about the baking he does on site, early in the morning ready for us to buy. Some lovely breads and cakes, well worth stopping in for...
