Wife and I popped into Sheringham this morning and wife needed a toilet and I wanted some toast so stopped at The Sitting Room. WOW! Great little place where if you want a cuppa you must try. Great decor with art work for sale. Nice and clean throughout and the toilets are well smart.
As for the food and drink the wife wanted a normal cup of tea but I ordered her a Chai Latte as I like her to try something different and she loved it and says she wants me to buy her some for home. I had a Hot Chocolate which you might think is normal but not this one. It had all the trimmings which made this drink just right. Now for the toast. They had a choice of 2 rounds or unlimited. I had just 2 rounds and went back to my table expecting the waitress to bring it with our drinks but no. The wife pointed out that with a toaster on the table I would have to toast it myself. With a puzzled look on my face I asked behind the counter if this was true of which the reply was Yes.
So with different loads of bread covered with a cloth I cut myself 2 thick slices and used the toaster provide. At first I was What! Do my own toast! But what a great idea. Toast it to your own style with no waiting. BRILLIANT! The bread was fresh and the butter was really nice which made it perfect.
Now for the staff. All the staff were friendly and well turned out. The girl who was in charge who looked a lot like Morven Christie was great even when I made a complete fool of myself with the toast. The others were also really good as they went about their work and are a credit to their families and employers.
If you find yourself in Sheringham and need refreshments give this place a chance, you won't be...
Read moreI really like this place ,its cosy and eclectic. The seating can be a bit cramped but not unpleasantly so , there is enough room , just not much excess. There is a fantastic selection of home cooked food , a light lunch option, favourites and excellent cakes. The coffee is freshly made and very good , the skinny latte is lovely! There is a good tea select and a wine list that covers most bases. We had quiche( should have had it heated mother!), I had a Moulin Rouge (brie and cranberry to you and me!) Both were very tasty and good sized portions. Service was prompt and cheerful. It was very busy when we arrived but as we settled to wait a table became vacant , by the time we'd finished our meal it had emptied and was starting to fill again ,so there is a good turnover of custom. All in all a good place to rest wet and weary feet after shopping and in summer there are tables outside for the sun worshipers and...
Read moreWas looking for somewhere to have lunch on a very busy day during school holidays, and found this friendly little café just round the corner from the clock tower. It's in a lovely old building and has an outside seating area. Very homely inside with traditional decor, comfy chairs and some nice pictures on the wall. Although the café was busy, I managed to get a small table near the counter. The two young men who were serving were both courteous and helpful. I ordered the Cornish pasty with salad, but there were also sausage rolls, vegetarian quiches and other light snacks available as well as some yummy looking cakes. Did not have to wait too long for my pasty and it was really good quality, piping hot, tasty and filling. Had a nice pot of loose tea, served with a china cup and a strainer. Payment was with card only, and prices were very reasonable. A most satisfying lunch! Would come here again if I return...
