Visited the Priory Cafe on Saturday afternoon just for a coffee and a scone. Service was excellent as usual despite only working on 3 members of staff. I've never not had good service or issues with my refreshments. On the odd occasion I've had to wait 20 minutes or so for food but that has happened in when visiting other establishments too. There's always a good atmosphere with a good collective mix of music being played in the background. With regards to the comments and rating left by the previous gentleman, errors do happen. The young female apologised for your wait and you were giving a full refund in cash so your party of 3 ended up with free drinks and cake. You failed to mention that in your comments. Also the gentleman with his back to us didn't make any attempt to move his chair to allow my 87 year old disabled Mother to pass. Funny how none of your party apologised for that!!! Well done to the young female for being professional with such an...
Read moreHaving read other good reviews of this cafe we decided to try it out. Unfortunately our experience differed from previous reviews. After ordering two breakfasts one regular one veggie we endured a 45min wait for the food to arrive. I can understand places are under pressure but what made it more frustrating was the complete lack of communication between front of house staff and kitchen staff. Our long wait was only acknowledged after we queried when our food was coming. (This was at the 40min wait stage). Also we were served our hot drinks straight away after ordering which meant it was freezing cold by the arrival of the food. (They did agree to re-fill our teapot with hot water) When the food did eventually arrive the server seemed totally unaware of what they were serving. Seems a lack of training and information given to floor staff. In terms of food itself it was fine but the disastrous service left a sour taste. I could not recommend this...
Read moreVisited this cafe 2 years ago and was really impressed. Today I returned expecting a nice coffee and a bite to eat with my wife and son. To say I was disappointed is an understatement, infact we left before ordering. It wasn't busy but the available tables were cluttered with cups and plates from previous diners. The tables were filthy too. The floor needed swept as it was covered in bits of food and was visibly rotten. We were told to sit at a table and someone would be over soon to clean down the table and take our order. 10 mins passed before a lady came over and somewhat abruptly said" what can I get you"? We said we were waiting for a menu and for the table to be cleaned. She pointed out the menus were on the wall and they didn't have menus for the table. The whole experience was discourteous and disorganised. Needless to say we won't...
