We wandered up and down Front Street, Tynemouth, on a miserably cold day. We looked in the door and the place looked warm and welcoming. There were a few other customers, but at 5:30 on a cold Thursday evening it was welcoming to see other diners. The menu was small but as it was titled 'Winter Warmers' it was what we wanted to see. The staff were very friendly and our order was soon taken. Our food arrived in a reasonable time. We were not disappointed. I had dumplings, mince, chips and peas. The better half had scampi and chips. Portion sizes were pleasing. The cost was similar to other eateries we had looked at prior to choosing 'The Priory'. All in all it was a teatime success.

Amazing food, really nice atmosphere and decoration. The food and drinks are insanely cheap for the location and the staff were friendly. The menu is small, but varied. I was very happy to see a number of different Vegetarian options! Made to check in with the Covid app and wear a mask when not at the table. Fantastic. Will 100% be heading back to try the other Veggie items. Photo is of the Tofu & Halloumi Tower which was incredible and I couldn't finish the plate. Huge portions.

Drinks ok, 4-5£ for cider, food horrible , sunday roast tasteless, mushroom bruscheta not flavoured, bread not toasted and smashed, flat whatever you can call it looked horrible. Shame on the chefs sending that kind of food. 42£ for pub dinner the worst we had in years. No one even bothered to ask how was food etc.just finished our food and left. A lot to improve to keep customers happy.

Visited saturday 22.03.25 Ok so the place isn't a huge pub. 16 tables maybe? Not everyone was ordering food either so not exactly stowed off with orders. We ordered our food, waited around 45ish minutes, still no food. No other tables were getting their orders either (probably about 5 other tables) husband went to see what the hlld up was and apparently they were plating up our food and to give them 5 minutes. After 10 minutes we'd had enough. Husband went to the bar and asked for a refund. Again they told us our food was getting plated up and that if we waited a bit longer we could eat. But tbh after an hour wait we'd had enough and needed to get home. The guy who refunded us was apologetic and even said we could eat our food and still have our refund which was nice (good service from this fella) but we had had enough. We were also told upon ordering that there was no fish so my daughter and I couldn't have fish and chip. A little annoying as its a seaside town known for fresh fish but we ordered something else. Just as my husband had paid and was walking away someone came from the kitchen to say they now had fish again. They guy who served us didn't think to say "sorry no fish BUT we're due an order any minute if you still want to order/wait" or "hey sir, you just ordered but would you like me to cancel those orders and get you the fish you asked for instead" There was a lot of staff standing around doing nothing when they could have been checking on orders in the kitchen or checking on tables who had ordered. Atleast 3 other tables got refunds due to no service on their orders who had also been waiting around an hour. 2 positives are it's dog friendly and the pub itself is quite nice inside. Shame it was let down by...

Do not eat here. I'm sure this place pulls people in for a pint and the football, but it isn't an acceptable place for food.

We visited The Priory for a quick lunch (sandwich, salad, and chips) and had to wait well over an hour for our simple food to arrive. We complained and were told only one chef was working that day. Within the nearly two hours we had to spend here, however, only four equally simple meals were served. The kitchen clearly wasn't busy and the wait isn't acceptable. I'm also not sure how much food is actually being made on site. A waitress walked in the main door with multiple bags of salad from the co-op over the road during our long wait.

When the food did arrive it was largely unpleasant. The bagged salad was fine as was the coleslaw, but the sandwiches were flavourless and served on very dry buns. The beef in one sandwich was so tough it simply couldn't be eaten. The chips were average, but only 10 were served on each plate.

The atmosphere was uninviting. The decor was very dark and uninviting, and there is way too much empty space alongside too few seating areas. It's like everyone has their own isolated island to dine from. The bathrooms were also very unpleasant and clearly not kept clean throughout the day. One member of our party used the female bathroom and had to navigate around a large pool of water on the floor with the help of another unhappy customer.

A very unpleasant experience. I'm very annoyed at them for having taken my money, and also at myself for not demanding a refund, as it simply wasn't worth the value. Please do yourself a favour and check out the other places Tynemouth...

Ordered a chicken burger, a bbq chicken pizza and 2 teas. £28. Made 2 teapots of tea at the bar. Both teapots were absolutely filthy, fished them out from the bottom of the bar, 2 spoons were also filthy, the tea was Luke warm. I took them back for a replacement, still no better. The waiter keeps apologising all the time (sorry). The chicken burger was a battered clump of chicken in a bun with salad. Salad was dry. Had to ask for mayonnaise, my wife never ate it. My pizza looked good, but the chicken was hard lumps and the base was like slate.. I only ate a bit as I was hungry. The waiter did not do anything or offer anything else, we just put our coats on and left. The whole pub needs a clean out and the crockery and utensils need replacement or a damp good wash. The staff had no go in them at all. Very poor service, waited just under an hour for food to come out. People were complaining about cold cups of tea. The staff was completely lost. I would never go there again or recommend it to anyone. If I hadn't paid prior to getting my meal, I would never of paid. For £28 the service and meals...
