Won't be going here again. The place looks nice and the staff were pleasant, but the food and service were terrible. We waited an hour and twenty minutes for the food to arrive with no one coming to us in between with apologies or explanation. When it did arrive they'd got one of the meals wrong that had been specifically chosen due to pregnancy so she had to wait even longer for her meal. I gave her my chips to eat whilst she waited. My meal (king prawns) tasted weird, like a farmyard, and smelt off. They smelled like a dirty toilet with damp issues. I love Prawns, I order and make them myself a lot, I know when something isn't right. And together with the amount of fruit flies flying around us I could not bring myself to eat them (a couple landed in the wine meaning we had to leave some of that too). The veg the prawns sat on had inedible twigs in that I had to keep picking out of my mouth making it unpleasant to eat, and I'd given my chips away. Out of the whole meal I was able to eat 2 pieces of the toast. I'd have eaten the other two pieces but there wasn't enough butter provided to eat them. In all it cost me £27 for two pieces of toast. I informed the staff that it wasn't very nice to eat. It was clear I hadn't eaten the meal, but they still charged me for it and made no offer of reconciliation. Other people with us told me that the food was flavourless, and the burger that came late fell apart and was apparently like eating minced beef. I would think twice before going here...
Read moreWent for Sunday lunch today, looked well presented on the plates coming past so me and my partner were sold! I ordered butternut squash and sweet potato wellington... sounds amazing right? Wrong....no flavour whatsoever! The gravy tasted like water from cooked veg, I put loads of salt on my meal but to no avail just a very bland meal, my partner ordered lamb, unfortunately as any good cook would know if you get vacume sealed meat you have to take it out of package and air rate until the smell goes as it does smell off, but once air rated it dissappears, the lamb had a funny smell and tasted metallic, was given a butter knife to try and cut through very rubbery meat. My partner felt the same as me... BLAND! Asked for English mustard they didn't have any just American vinegary mustard. Not one member of staff asked at the end if everything was OK with the meal just wanted payment. Overall just very disappointing 😞 it's such a shame because the presentation looks beautiful but it's all in the tasting and unfortunately on this occasion no flavour 😕 very bland. If I could give advice to the chef, season and taste because it's such ashame when the food on been presented looks amazing but tastes of nothing and that's nor an exaggeration, literally tastes of nothing. Think I'll just stick with Tobys carvery...
Read moreNot the best experience at all. My honest review..Decided to have a day out in Tynemouth and grab some lunch. It was busy every where but managed to get a table here. Atmosphere was great, superb selection of drinks however when our meals arrived we were extremely disappointed. The Sunday lunches were stone cold. We immediately told the manager and she took them away to be replaced by new ones. the staff who were very apologetic brought us new food. When the second lot arrived they were just luke warm, the potatoes were like cardboard and the mashed potatoes were dry. I also had a hair in my yorkshire pudding. For the price,£15, two very thin sliced pieces off meat was very overpriced. I felt terrible having to complain again but had to tell them about the hair. I was told no one in the kitchen had blond hair and felt like I was being accused of putting it there myself. The steak which was cooked perfectly was sold with cardboard chips. £33, again overpriced. The staff kindly didn't charge us for two of the dinner's and again were profusely sorry. I'm sorry we won't be returning but we felt very let down. To end on a good note, the Bloody Mary's were very good and 2 for £12 on a Sunday is a great offer. And the Rioja was...
