This place is great! I've dropped in a number of times to grab a coffee for my walk along the sea front, but tonight was the first time I decided to have some food. We didn't book, just walked in at 6pm on a Sunday and asked if they had a free table and if we could order food, which they did. I was there with my wife, daughter and our dog. Ordered at the bar and food arrived in around 10 minutes. We had the halloumi deluxe, bbq boss and a kids cheese burger. They all came with fries too. The bbq boss burger was layered with two beef burgers, bacon, cheese, onions, bbq sauce and lettuce in a brioche bun. I think it is possibly one of the nicest I have ever had. My wife loved her halloumi deluxe and my daughter said her cheeseburger was amazing. Our dog loved the chips too. We had drinks there but also got a takeaway coffee and peppermint tea for our walk. The atmosphere was very chilled and the staff excellent. We will certainly be back. I really cannot recommend this place highly...
Read moreI recently visited Surfers Tynemouth and had a rather mixed experience. On the plus side, the Americano and espresso I tried were both fantastic - really fresh, smooth and flavourful. If you're a coffee lover, you'll definitely appreciate the quality here. The location is also a big selling point, as the cafe is right on Long Sands Beach, with stunning views of the sea. It's the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy your coffee with the sound of the waves in the background.
However, there was one major drawback that really put a damper on the experience. There were quite a few mice running around the outdoor seating area, which was a little disconcerting. It didn't look like they were doing much to deal with the problem, and it made it hard to fully enjoy the otherwise lovely setting. It's a shame because the coffee and views are first class, but the lack of attention to this problem made me...
Read moreI first visited about a year ago, I took my son who proclaimed the vegan burger ‘the best he’d eaten’. I recently returned and since then a new large (chain) establishment has opened next door, I cannot help but feel Surfers is in its death throes, it doesn’t have a selection of ales and the one I ordered was not good. Being situated where it is, it is cold. The coldness could be combated through a second door system or a more powerful heat curtain, but whenever I’m there now it seems like it is serving a flow of delivery drivers and the door is rarely closed meaning customers need to sit in their coats (while your neighbours are drinking superior ale in the warmth). I am sad to see a local business destroyed by a chain, but surfers need to...
