I was always going to choose the view for our wedding reception because it was one of the first places where me and my husband met and we love it there! When I spoke to both Dawn and Jill, it honestly felt like we’d known them for years. We genuinely felt like we were in safe hands. They were so professional and caring. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we went through everything with them and they were so lovely and remembered all the little details that a lot of other people wouldn’t have.
Disaster struck on our wedding day when my husband Graham found that he couldn’t smell coffee and our worst fears were realised when he took a lateral flow test from our neighbour and found out that he was positive with covid. I’ll never ever forget that moment and also the way everyone who mattered rallied around to help us. We had family who had travelled to be there and it was quite honestly devastating!!
Anyway, not only did Jill and Dawn send us a beautiful flower arrangement with the lyrics to our personal song on the day, a beautiful big balloon that was stunning and they got us some beautiful chocolates too, so on our wedding night in isolation we put all of these items in our front room to make it as weddingy as we could in our front room. ❤️
This isn’t all!! I spoke to them and they have honoured absolutely everything including the food and drinks package, even though they would make a loss because they wanted us to have a special wedding night and they genuinely care. This is why we made an absolute perfect choice of wedding venue at The View!
Dawn Hudspith and Jill Wilson have from start to finish been absolute wedding angels 😇 and when they told me I was still having my reception I couldn’t believe it. Made my year!! If Carlsberg did wedding receptions......
Choose the view!! Absolutely beautiful venue which sells itself but Jill ( the owner) and Dawn ( the manager) genuinely care that you have the best day of your life, almost as much as you do. We can’t recommend them...
Read moreI hadn’t been inside this venue before so decided to give it a try with my family. We booked a table in advance and it took a little while to be seated. We ended up moving to a slightly bigger table, one of the wait staff snatched the cutlery up from the original table and threw it down on the new table without saying a word, it was very rude. We were told it was table service and someone would be with us shortly, it took half an hour for anyone to take our order and the woman who took the order was extremely unfriendly. A couple made the mistake of sitting at a table as they were tired of waiting for someone to sit them and the same woman wait staff loudly berated them and told them to get back to the sign that says wait to be seated. The food arrived cold, the poached eggs were hard boiled and when we sent them back the same woman was again very rude rolling her eyes and being abrupt. I’m not sure if she is potentially the owner as I’ve never experienced wait staff with such a poor attitude. The experience was very poor largely based around this woman’s awful attitude. So the food and drinks took almost an hour to arrive from when our reservation was, the service was appalling and overall it was just a terrible experience. The gentleman working the bar/ coffee area was polite and apologised for the food so we can’t fault him but whoever the woman was that was working that day she was rude, borderline aggressive and I saw many customers sharing looks and talking about how rude she was, it needs to be addressed. Would not recommend unless you’re just popping...
Read moreThis was my first visit to the view. It was a reunion of two brothers and a half brother that did not know existed. During the Second World War their father was posted to Iceland and had a relationship with a local lady and a son was born. The father was shipped back to the UK as he had a perforated ulcer, so never found out that the lady had a son Years passed and eventually the son and his son started the search for his dad. With records being hard to research and in a different country they struggled. They eventually found out that the father had died in the 60s so were heartbroken. The son eventually hired a company to help them and they found a son of the dad, but were told the news he had died as well. They said there was a son who this company contacted on there behalf. He explained about his dad dying but did they know that there are two older sons still living. The company went back to the son and explained that his father had two living older brothers. So over a period of about six months of messages, emails telephone call the father and son from Iceland came to the UK. We decided to have the initial reunion at the hotel they are stopping in. We booked a table at the view, the service was brilliant, we told the story to one of waitresses who was taken aback, she offered the three brothers a cake from herself, the same offer came from the management which was gratefully accepted. I am not a big review writer but the help that they gave/showed on what was a surprise for a 88, 85 and 79 year old was much appreciated. Thank you on behalf of the...
