The Turks Head in Tynemouth North Shields is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff are exceptional – attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about their impressive range of drinks, especially the whiskies. While I didn’t order food during my visit, the dishes I saw being served looked absolutely amazing – beautifully presented and incredibly appetizing. The pub is clearly a place that takes pride in every aspect of what they offer. The ambiance is perfect, blending traditional charm with a lively buzz, making it a great spot for catching up with friends or just enjoying a quiet drink. They even cater to sports fans with Sky Sports, ensuring there’s something for everyone. If you’re in Tynemouth, don’t miss out on The Turks Head – it’s a standout destination that I’ll be returning to again and again. Highly recommended!

I went to watch the Liverpool vs. Southampton match. The place wasn’t too crowded; there were still seats available, and I arrived on time. The people there created a great atmosphere. I liked that it was pet-friendly, as the presence of pets added a nice vibe to the place. It was cozy, with good pints, and the staff had a very friendly and helpful attitude. It was a very pleasant experience.

Great pub friendly staff and good atmosphere. Very interesting story about the dog as it reminded me of Grey Friars Bobby (a similar one) in Edinburgh. HELP DOES ANYONE KNOW THIS GENTLEMAN. He very kindly posed for my last weekend and I forgot to ask his name. say's it all about the people in the area so so welcoming. Thanks.

Such a shame, never had to write a review ever.,

My boyfriend told me it was really nice in here before the pandemic so I was keen to try it but I’m not gonna lie, we were really disappointed. We’ll start with the positives first.

Positives: -The lady that finally got round to serving us was polite and the drinks came quickly after we finally got to order the food took 25 minutes to come and we got the chicken burger, the chicken and onion rings were actually nice! šŸ™‚

Negatives: when we were seated the gentleman who took our drinks didn’t offer a food menu, after 15 minutes we asked the gentleman for a menu he said ā€œyeah two secondsā€ he must’ve forgotten as we waited 15 minutes and had to ask a lady for one she came back within 30 seconds but then didn’t come back for 10 minutes to take the food order we had to get up and ask her to order. the food didn’t come for 25 minutes so it got to an a hour and we had no food. The menu stated we got coleslaw and seasoned fries, no coleslaw to be found and the fries definitely weren’t seasoned the toilet door in the ladies doesn’t close so I had to sit and hold it closed whilst someone’s dirty mask sat on the floor by my feet (which I understand might not be the staffs fault) then a customer requested they turn the volume on for the tv so they turned down the nice atmospheric music and blasted a show about renovating ... I’m ngl I wasn’t interested in Kerry and David’s house investment I enjoyed the music but atleast that customer got to enjoy the tv show. the food isn’t worth the price and we ordered a kopperburg and pint, which came to Ā£9.50! Eeeeeeeeshhhhhh

Disappointed to...

Cumberland arms about 150yds down the road pint of San Miguel and a single vodka with soda water £7.45. Turks head pint of Peroni and a single vodka and soda water £10.25!!!! Please explain, either a pint of Peroni is almost £3 more than san Miguel or you charge almost £3 for a dash of soda water! Will be staying in the Cumberland next time, which I definitely recommend more anyway since the refurb and new management. Daylight robbery! Just to add the new tynemouth castle inn is only £9 for the same drinks! Come on!

I see you have posted a reply! But no explanation of the extortionate price, I guess you don’t want to admit that you charge a stupid amount for something that costs...
