TYNE TASTE Thai Asian Street Food @ Pug and Monkeys 泰好味 — Restaurant in North Tyneside

Go here. It's magnificent. They're a small, authentic Thai food place and the food is incredible. The shop is small, blink and you'll miss it, but don't let that fool you. Everyone inside is so lovely and knowledgable. If you're not sure what to get, they'll know exactly what you want and you can be confident the recommendation will be bangin'. We went in and ordered a couple of things on our lunch break. The value for money in what we got was fantastic. Huge portion sizes and only £10 each for a main and some rice. Honestly, I reckon they're undercharging. I had the Ginger and Mushroom Tofu with steamed rice and it was delightful. Couldn't eat it fast enough. Truly, some of the nicest asian food I've ever had. The rice alone was addictive: fluffy, light, and sticky. I watched my colleague force himself to finish the last duck spring roll because it was too good to leave behind, no matter how full he claimed to be.

Fair warning, they're cash only but do accept a bank transfer if needed. It's also not currently a short wait time, but I promise it's worth it. it's because everything is made hot and fresh. Next time we'll just call ahead with our order; not that I minded the little outdoor seating area while it was warm and sunny. I cannot wait to go back again and I thoroughly recommend others try it...

Tyne Taste has only been open since January 2025. A mum and daughter operation - apologies for not asking their names - with mum in the kitchen and daughter front of house, last night we, as a group of four ageing adults, enjoyed a delightful Thai dining experience sitting outside. A beer from the adjacent club was an added bonus with the two businesses obviously working well together. The menu is extensive, the quality of ingredients and cooking are top rate and the portions generous. Meals are cooked to order with care taken to establish the level of spiciness diners prefer and lots of advice on what to select. Chef mum sought feedback after we'd finished eating - so wise for a new enterprise. If I lived locally rather than just being a visitor to Longbenton, I would work my way through the entire menu, placing my order before taking the Metro and ensuring I had cash in my bag to pay! Absolutely delicious - we had the prawn gang kiew wan (green curry), beef sliced gang dang (red curry), jasmine rice x2, por pia Tod (spring rolls), prawn gyoza and Thai prawn crackers.

They were all wonderful and we will certainly be back soon. We pre ordered via WhatsApp at around 5pm hoping for a 7.30 pick up but they said they were really busy so would let us know with 20 mins warning and do their best! Despite them being busy we got our 20 minute notification at 7.10 - perfect timing!
