We returned to Eighty One today as we previously had the soup and toasty combo which we’d really enjoyed. The bill was a lot more than expected which I questioned after paying. I was told that they’d accidentally printed out old menus despite the price mirroring the menu displayed outside also. We were told that the price has increased by £4 per order which seemed quite hefty and we felt that the price displayed should have been the price honoured. However the thing that annoyed us more was the attitude of the woman that we spoke to when she was called over by the male server. We waited for 15mins for staff to take our order whilst staff walked past and looked at us. At one point a waitress brought someone else's order down to our table. However we ordered the Toasted Ciabatta and beef roll, both had obviously been warmed up in the microwave and were really soggy bread and the beef was dry. When you don't have much to offer in terms of toasted sandwiches, you should make sure they are actually toasted. The salad meals on the table next to us looked much better.
