Last visited LAST year post lockdown when it impressed. Warm and friendly welcome. Attentive service and good pizza with fresh ingredients, balanced flavours and from oven to table hot. What the hell has happened to this place in 2022 ?Somethings... In fact almost everything has gone badly wrong. It's under staffed and the male dominated twenty somethings staff did not conceal their collective wish to be anywhere but in LWP. Rather than a welcome they really would have preferred we did not wait for a table. The priority here is now Take-aways not tables. When we did wait we were lied to about the booths being too small for our party so could someone behind us get the booth... Sounded reasonable and we agreed until we were later seated in the very same booth. Not the Appetizer any self respecting waiter would want to serve. Service was crass and consumately inattentive. No damn was given by this motley crew of clueless staff. No food was put on a table for more than 35 minutes. Any table. We waited from 1820 until 1955 hrs before a single bite of food was put on our table. It was Luke warm The vegan pizza was like salty cardboard. Zero flavour. It takes a special genius to rob a pizza of flavour if the ingredients are Fresh but a rare talent to make stale ingredients infuse flavour. The lasagne was nuked, dry sticky, and a struggle to consume even when one was famished after a 90 minute wait. The children's hot chocolates were bizarrely served in espresso cups. Why? It was not an espresso. The garlic bread lacked any garlic flavour. The chefs clearly had no clue or self respect. The cheesy bread was black burnt. It should have been binned not plated. The atmosphere in the placed was muted and cold. No vibe no energy no charisma. Suddenly school dinners in the 1970s seemed appetising and fulfilling. There was nothing good about this experience. LWP is a stain on the restaurant Scene in Holywood. Avoid at all costs. I WILL NEVER BE...
Read moreWe visited LW as part of a mid sized group on Wednesday evening having called in advance and been assured they could accommodate us. When we arrived, part of the party were asked if they would mind sitting at a different table to save staff having to add one more table on to where the others were sitting.
Dinners ordered, the children in the party went outside to the play park where the adults could supervise from the table.
There followed a ridiculous wait for the food which finally came in batches with 15-20 min waits between each batch. During this time, the children came in to say they were being verbally abused by a neighbour who was yelling obscenities from her window at them. This led to 1 child in the group becoming so distressed he was unable to stay and the family had to request take away boxes for their meal. Speaking to the manager, the mither was informed that staff were aware if the problem with the neighbour and that this was a regular occurance at the same time every evening. However staff had not saw fit to lock the door to the play area or warn parents.
As the food began to trickle out, a young waitress (approx 16) came to me and asked, "whose is this?" Not recognising the dish, I asked what it was to which she replied, "I don't know to be honest"
My husband received his food well before my son and I. When he was half way through eating I had to ask a waitress if we could please have our dips before he had finished his pizza.
Everything finally delivered and eaten, my 7 year old informed me that the pepperoni pizza (his favourite food) was a 5/10 - adding, "it was alright, but it wasn't worth the hassle. I don't want to come to this place again!"
We can all...
Read moreA Holywood Staple That Always Delivers Nestled in the bustling heart of Holywood, Little Wing has firmly established itself as the go-to spot for authentic, delicious pizza. It’s one of those wonderfully reliable places, perfect for everything from a mid-week family treat to a casual weekend meal with friends. The atmosphere on any given evening is consistently lively and welcoming, buzzing with the happy chatter of satisfied diners. The main event is, of course, the pizza. Little Wing nails the Neapolitan-style base – thin and light with a satisfyingly chewy, perfectly fired crust. Toppings are both generous and fresh, ranging from the beautifully simple Margherita to more adventurous weekly specials. While the legendary 24-inch pizza provides a fun challenge for larger groups, their standard size is more than enough to satisfy a hearty appetite. Beyond pizza, the starters are equally commendable; the warm, garlicky dough balls are a must-try and an ideal way to kick off your meal. The interior is modern and casual, and while it can get loud during peak times, that’s all part of its vibrant, unpretentious charm. Service is typically brisk, efficient, and friendly, with staff who are brilliant at welcoming families and making everyone feel at ease. Little Wing doesn’t try to be something it's not. It focuses on doing one thing exceptionally well: serving excellent pizza in a relaxed environment. For a reliable, crowd-pleasing meal in Holywood that offers great value and will leave everyone happy, it remains an...
