Well, Jing Kee is a peculiar one. By far and away they have the most accurate salt and chilli chicken, tasting pretty much identical to that of all the other really good Chinese’s in the province, but if you like Szechuan chicken then avoid. Literally, it tastes like no other example of Szechuan chicken that I’ve ever experienced, and it’s actually my favorite meal. There was one little piece of a red pepper and two green peppers but no chilli peppers in it, and for some reason this came with tonnes of bamboo, water chestnuts and all kinds of vegetables that I’ve never experienced in a Szechuan chicken meal before. I took a photo of this so that I can compare it to Sunday nights Chinese over the coming weekend, which I’ll get at Maos Kitchen. It didn’t taste bad, it just absolutely was not like Szechuan chicken. It wasn’t even spicy, just a a bland disproportionated box of ā€œmehā€. By disproportionated I mean there was 8 pieces of shredded chicken in the box, which couldn’t have represented anything more than maybe 50 to 60 grams of chicken. A meal which is named as ā€œSzechuan chickenā€ definitely should have a majority portion of chicken in it and NOT be overwhelmed by vegetables. The box wasn’t full to the brim like most Chinese take always do, I’d have said the box was maybe 2/3 full. Out of that, the chicken portion represented maybe about 10-15% volume. What there was however was a box that when the Chicken was removed, could easily have been described as a vegetarian or vegan dish, as the box weighed I’d have said maybe 500grams - of vegetables. They should perhaps consider the option of renaming it to ā€œlarge box of random vegetables with a small side garnish of shredded chickenā€ It was a terribly disappointing meal, and wasn’t even cheap either. Like I say though, their salted chilli chicken is good, almost as good as Maos Kitchen in ballymoney actually.

The Jing Kee has consistently been a great Chinese takeaway in Ballyclare. The service is very quick also with generous portions. I would say it's our best Chinese takeaway in the town without a doubt. I have yet to speak to anyone in Ballyclare that Doesn't enjoy the food from here.

Firstly the food is excellent, and the counter staff are friendly and efficient. The low rating is that I have been ordering here for more than a decade, but recently, their prices have been extracting the Michael! Our usual order use to come to £15 and you got a bag of prawn crackers thrown in. Now, the limit has risen 33% so you only get the crackers with a spend of in excess of £20.

The usual order price has risen 18%, with a reduction in portion size (vegetables roll you use to get 6, now 5), and price of them has risen 33%.

So basically, for paying 18% more in total, I get far less food, and unfortunately my income hasn't risen 18%.

Owners must be savvy people, but I think they have taken excessive advantage of price rises... (hence...

Took over an hour for the food to arrive and although the Chow Mein was good it arrived cold. Crispy Chicken rolls were anything but crispy, very soggy. The majority of the chips were hard as a rock. Cost? WOW. Extremely expensive they have REALLY raised prices. No receipt came with it. Save your money and order from...
