I recently visited The Fat Gherkin in Moira, Northern Ireland, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience. The menu, food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. I visited with a party of 4, and we all agreed that we would definitely go back.

The menu at The Fat Gherkin is diverse and offers something for everyone. The vegan options are particularly noteworthy, with dishes such as the avocado mushroom bap, mushroom toast, and cake. The vegetarian sandwich can be made vegan upon request. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the Soda Stack (Vegetarian option available) and Dirty Chai Latte.

The service was friendly, attentive, and prompt. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations.

The atmosphere at The Fat Gherkin is cozy, inviting, and perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. The decor is charming, and the seating is comfortable. There is also an outdoor seating area when weather permits.

We decided to have lunch at this spot today, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice! Our order included the Egg Royale, the Vietnamese caramelized beef with noodles from their specials menu, and a cheese croissant for the little one (not shown below), accompanied by two cappuccinos—one with regular milk and the other with oat milk. The order arrived in less than 10 minutes, which is really impressive.

The food was beyond delicious, with every dish cooked and seasoned to perfection. I couldn't find a single fault. Service…….there was none. A lot of young staff Service, there was a lot of young staff standing around the hotel each wedding to use standing around the till each waiting to use it. Told I could NOT order at the counter and that there were tables in front of me, even tho a member of staff had assured me he was sending someone down to take my order. I was there with my Father who is 92 years old and had to walk out and find somewhere else. I was informed by a member of staff on the way out “this is just how our Saturdays are”, I think 🤔 more staff would be required as it’s very off putting when you just want to order and see a lot of young staff standing chatting and having a laugh.
