I always assumed Five Guys was an overpriced burger joint, similar to the much cheaper places with the golden arches or the one that thinks they are the king. I was so, so wrong. I recently got treated to a Five Guys whilst working away, at the London Tower Bridge branch. I'm now hooked. On returning home to Norfolk I knew I had to have another Five Guys so opted for the Norwich Riverside branch along with my missus and three year old son. Proper burgers made in front of you from raw ingredients and not a frozen item in sight. Big bags of potatoes stacked up, which are chopped daily. No frozen chips in sight. We were kept waiting for a few minutes, not that I was bothered by this at all as I could see our food was being freshly prepared, but I think it was a manager that approached me and apologized for the wait and prepared me a milkshake on the house and it was one hell of a milkshake. Full of flavour and actually drinkable instead of having what seems like a cup of ice-cream like you get from those other places. Not long after, our food was ready. Delicious food and my missus and son were very impressed with their first Five Guys. We tried to eat all the fries we were given and my son and missus were both making food orgasm sounds whilst eating. Five Guys is definitely not just another burger takeaway joint like the others I mentioned earlier. We were stuffed. Full to the brim and it wasn't a fullness that wears off after twenty minutes. Full like when you eat a proper meal. Five Guys has proven to me that you get exactly what you pay for. The staff in there were polite and very welcoming. We will definitely be having Five Guys many more times in the...
Read moreFirstly I last came here around 3 years ago the staff were courteous and patient . The food was out of this world I came back today at lunch time with my partner because I had raved about it so much , how wrong was I !!!!!!! The young guy who took are order was pushy would not allow us time to read the menu board and wanted a quick turnaround . The food arrived ! The chips were soggy not a crispy edge to be found , there were plenty of them if that is a plus side , then we came to the burgers, They were as we ordered but there was I assume grease running out of them as we took bites, the meat was dry , had very grainy texture, fell into lumps when bitten into and absolutely tasteless . I likened them to two bits of cardboard that McDonalds serve up for which I do not go there for that reason I feel very disappointed with my visit and for two burgers one portion of small fries one medium shake and a small shake £32 lighter in my pocket, for that price I would expect exceptional food and service as it used to be. I would love to hear your feedback , at the moment we wouldn’t step through the door again . With kindest regards Kevin Thomas
Oh one last thing there were a group of people vaping in on the table next to me and not one member of staff came over to confront them , I feel I should not have to take action and ask them to stop in a public restaurant...
Read moreAwful Shakes that make you cry tears of anything but joy.
Stopped in for a quick bit of refreshment on the way to the station. The staff were pleasant enough, but it's always going to be hard to stay motivated when the city is buzzing and the sun is shining and there is absolutely noone in the restaurant.
There was a sign on the wall that said the shakes would bring a tear to your eye, so we had to give them a go. They were ready in about 30 seconds and were about the size of a standard cup of coffee.
Now a £7 milkshake should do something magical, but to say these fall far short of magical is an understatement. These shakes are just basic. The flavour taste like chemicals. It's dreadful value for money and Five Guys should actually be ashamed they sell these frothy frauds over the counter.
The absolute NERVE to charge a premium for these pathetic pity-pots is enough to infuriate anyone and I'd urge all five guys to take a good long loom in the mirror and shed a tear for all the people they are straight up ripping off.
Of course they'll dry those tears with all your money because they don't offer anything else like it in this area, but when McDonald's opens in a few months I expect sales will go off a cliff.
Time for a shake up. Give better value to...
