Went to TGI's for the first time in a long time today. Cold, windy December day so to get out of the cold we go to TGI Friday's upon entering its spacious and well presented, a bit dimly lit for the time of day but overall good presentation. Stood about waiting for a good few minutes whilst 2 members of staff had a chat near the kitchen area, when they had finished their general discussion we were finally acknowledged and shown to a table at the back of the restaurant given menus and a pack with crayons for the child we had with us. We were given enough time to sit down and familiarise ourselves with the menus etc when our server, Hayley, came over and introduced herself, Hayley was the best thing about the whole experience which sadly gets worse from here but before I point out the negatives and reason for the 1 star review i wanted to take the time to praise Hayley, who was excellent, sadly my review is based upon the whole experience and the 1 star is for Hayley alone. Whilst Hayley was taking our drinks order she explained which menu items were not available including, but not limited to, the Vegan burger and Garlic bread. Unfortunately the alternative Vegan options were very lacking and one of our party was Vegan so not many mains options available. We enquired about the mac and cheese which is listed as cajun and asked if there was anyway to get just regular mac and cheese, you know, like they always have in America and TGI's, styling themselves as an American food chain, are unable to do a mac and cheese. As a result of the lack of availability on the menu we opted for starter's. We had the loaded potato skins with cheese and bacon, the vegan chicken dippers and the pictured on the menu cheese doughnuts, we all commented on the cheese doughnuts as it was something a bit new and niche that none of us had seen elsewhere, and they must be good to be feature on the menu, when the food came the cheese doughnuts were laughable. One bite and all the cheese was gone leaving a soggy shell of deep fried batter. They were so disappointing. Potato skins were awful. Somehow the outsides were burnt but the potato in the middle not cooked properly and the sauce served with the vegan dippers was frankly unpalatable. 3 dishes, 3 disapointments. The child of the group had ice cream for dessert, in fairness this was the best quality item on the menu. This culinary experience cost £50+. It just did not feel like any sort of value for money. From walking in and feeling ignored to multiple menu items being unavailable and picturing food items that are then delivered poorly it led all of our party to conclude this was a 1 star experience overall.

Bad experience tonight would never go again really not like it use to be. when we got there the table and seats where dirty and covered in bits of food so we cleaned it so we could sit down, the food was bad the wedge salad was just lettuce and a couple of bits of bacon see photo this is what I received nothing like the description, the burger was under cooked, I complained to manager she was not helpful, told me that’s how they all are so I replied why is mine the only one like this and the other 3 burgers we ordered where cooked she then repeated that’s how they are. This is not acceptable behaviour or attitude of a manager she needs retraining on customer service because she has an attitude problem, I asked for a refund just for the burger not the whole bill if not I will leave a bad review she then replied do what you want ! then she took my kids meal away that he was only half way through eating, I then asked for her to come back and told her she can take that meal off the bill as you just took it away when he was not finished she had no choice but to refund for that meal but still refused to take the undercooked burger off, so we paid and left very disappointed if I treated my customers like that I would be out of business.

I'm writing this review a day after visiting this place and I'm still in shock at how underwhelming the whole experience was. Whilst the food didn't taste bad it was the most expensive burger I've ever had in my life whilst simultaneously being one of, if not the smallest, I've ever been served in my life. Just look at the picture and tell me that a brioche bun with a piece of chicken that doesn't even fully cover its surface, and a few shy slaw pieces underneath are worth 19.60 - ah sorry, there's also a few fries cut from, I kid you not, one medium-sized potato, and the 2 tiny-ass chicken chunks at the top - how artsy. No bacon, no pickle, no hash brown, no egg - nothing that would justify this ridiculous price. And the portion size is so small you'd give it to a starving African child and they would still be hungry afterwards. There are expensive places around Norwich but at least they offer something special/unique or do foreign cuisine - the most foreign thing about an establishment serving burgers and chicken wings was my Polish ass there.

If I could give this 0 I would.

I’ve waited over a week to review this in the hope that the matter would be sorted without a public shaming. But it hasn’t/ in fact we’ve heard nothing from the branch or higher up- despite the fact that this branch stole our money! We had a very average (and that’s being generous) meal on Sunday 21 July. The bill came in and we thought it was more than expected but the items were correct on the bill so we paid and left. On return home - we live 35 miles away- my husband realised that despite the items being listed correctly on the bill- and at the correct price- the total of the bill was £12.80 more than it should have been. Suggesting that the bill had been overridden if that’s even a thing—and manually changed to a higher total amount.

We immediately rang the store and the deputy manager put our mind at rest that this would be an easy remedy but his manager needed to do it so to ring back Monday morning. Which we did. Adam, the store manager was absolutely disgraceful in his manner to us- arguing at us and aggressive even when we were being very calm and reasonable considering that basically they were in the wrong and had ultimately stolen our money! He was adamant that he couldn’t do anything and directed us to a ridiculous feedback area on the website which consisted of us choosing smiley faces to represent our visit. He said he would immediately receive the feedback, forward it on to head office who would sort our refund. Well obviously he didn’t forward it. To be honest we weren’t at all complimentary on his attitude so it’s no wonder he didn’t forward it on to head office. What sort of a company asks for feedback to be sent to the offending parties, for them to forward the so called bad feedback onto their higher level management. Talk about open to abuse. Needless to say we haven’t heard a peep from them and as it stands they still owe us our 12.80 that we were overcharged.

If you decide to go to this restaurant for heavens sake be one of those who gets their calculator out to add up the bill. I hate to imply it and hope I’m wrong, but it seems to me someone’s on a scam there. Until someone gets back in touch with us to rectify the matter or offer an alternative explanation it’s impossible not to think the worst here.

On a side note. The tables were sticky, menu also sticky, the starter portions tiny compared to the price. The ribs dry. The corn on the cob boiled and mushy and the Mac n cheese luke warm. We didn’t send back as it took ages to come out and we were almost late for our film- almost 50 mins from ordering to food arriving and it was quiet in store.

One things for sure. The manager of this store should rethink his career- he is clearly not suited with having to deal with customers and should perhaps find a new job where he doesn’t have to interact...

TGI Fridays is usually one of my favourite places to go. However, the Norwich based one was a huge disappointment. Parts of our cocktails were missing and served in incorrect glasses. When asked for no chilli flakes, chilli flakes were clearly put on the food making it unenjoyable. Asked for more drinks which never turned up. When it came to paying the bill we were charged for the drinks and were told these would be removed and they were not. As a party of 6 we split the bill three ways (per couple) after each paying our bit and the card machine accepting all payments. We were then told one of the payments hadn’t gone through on their till and could we come with the waitress to speak to the manager. We explained the payment had gone through and we had our last train to catch in 10 minutes but waitress insisted we speak to manager. On speaking to the manager Jimmy, he explained the payment was pending, so we would need to make the payment again! My friend whose card it belonged to refused to make a payment and the manager asked to see the bank statement. My friend showed the manager that the payment was indeed pending along with all the other pending transactions from that days shopping trip and could also see there were sufficient funds in the account for the payment. The manager still insisted he had to pay again and if he didn’t he had our details and would call the police. He also advised that pending transactions occurs regularly at tgi’s which leads me to believe this is a problem with their system. In the end my friend reluctantly paid again using a credit card. We ended up missing our train and had to fork out for a taxi home instead! More wasted money! And would you believe the payment cleared as we knew it would, so now my friend has to go through the whole process of claiming back his second payment which was completely unnecessary! To say we are outraged is putting it lightly we will not be coming back here and will not be recommending to...
