Male server didn’t tell us it was card only and then was so rude to us that I cried as we left. Avoid. Never experienced that much hostility from a server ever.
I was really excited to try this restaurant. Went with my fiancée and elderly father-in-law who is in a wheelchair. Male server seated us and this initial interaction was fine (the issues come when we paid). The food was pretty good and arrived quickly. The female servers were lovely and warm. We got the bill and added a £15 tip as the female servers were very pleasant and deserved it.
The male server who seated us, but otherwise had not interacted with us for the duration, came to collect payment and said “it’s card only” at the sight of our cash. We didn’t have a card with us, we said “oh sorry we didn’t know, you didn’t say when we came in, we don’t have a card with us”. Instantly he was passive aggressive saying “there’s a sign” and gestured to a small sticker behind a door, which we didn’t see due to navigating a wheelchair through the door when we arrived and one of us being legally blind. My partner said “we didn’t see that” and he replies “oh so you’re trying not to pay then?” Which was not the case and really hostile. He then proceeded to go around all 3 of us asking if we had a card or if someone could transfer us money (which wouldn’t have helped because we didn’t have a card and implied we didn’t have money or are low income). Then said “you’re refusing to pay, that’s fine” which we weren’t, we had the cash and a tip ready. He then picked up our money and said something about him having to pay our bill due to us not paying despite holding our money. I said he was being unfairly rude and making me uncomfortable considering he hadn’t mentioned it when we arrived and we were tipping he said “well I couldn’t give you change anyway so thanks I’ll keep the tip” but I had exact change for the bill, I didn’t feel comfortable to ask for the tip back or ask for it to go to the female servers as he was already holding it, standing over us and had been so horrible. My partner at this point was just wanting to leave as he was very frustrated and I was crying.
I appreciate it was not an ideal situation but the conversation could have been handled with dignity and respect as it was a genuine error. We were made out to be scum or scammers. Very embarrassing and upsetting. £140 wasted and a now...
Read moreOn approach to the restaurant it looks quite small but is larger inside spanning quite a way back with plenty of spacious seating and also a couple of booths and for warmer weatherthere is outsideseating. We was greeted quickly by the manager who escorted us to our seats which were very comfortable.
We began with vegetable spring rolls (You get 3 with a homemade chilli sauce, the spring rolls were perfectly crisp with the perfect amount of vegetable filling and tasted absolutely delicious especially the chilli sauce. My other half had the tom yum soup which normally is served as a starter in a small portion but here it is larger enough as a main dish and was also delicious. Next I had chicken pad thai which I must say was the best pad thai I have ever tasted, lots of flavour, the perfect amount of spice and enough chicken to have some with every bite. My other half had the thai green curry with egg fried rice which he said was tasty, had plenty of chicken (although different cuts of chicken including breast and thigh meat) meaning the spices hadn't infused as well but none the less he really enjoyed. For desert we had the churros which we shared as was still quite full and 6 sticks of homemade churro came perfectly fried, coated with cinnamon with a condensed milk dip, it was absolutely delicious. To sum it all up Staff were very friendly and attentive, food absolutely delicious, atmosphere very relaxed and welcoming, would...
Read moreOverall, the experience was quite pleasant. The food was flavorful, with generous portions that didn’t disappoint. One standout was the quality of the fried dishes—crispy and well-seasoned. I particularly enjoyed the stir-fried minced pork with egg, which was impressively spicy, much more so than what you'd typically find in UK restaurants. If you’re someone who enjoys a bit of heat, this dish will hit the spot.
However, the service speed could be improved. Later, I learned that their kitchen is located upstairs, and the staff have to carry hot dishes down a flight of stairs to serve customers. This not only slows things down but also seems like a potential safety hazard, especially with hot soups and stews. Hopefully, this is something they’ll iron out, given the restaurant is still in its soft opening phase.
One surprising issue was the lack of orange juice, a standard drink that shouldn’t have been out of stock, especially considering it’s a popular choice for children. The drinks overall were somewhat underwhelming—the Thai milk tea lacked both milk and a strong tea flavor, and the lemonade was forgettable at best.
On the bright side, the staff were polite and welcoming. However, given the current pricing, I’m not sure I’d return frequently once the full...
