I'll start off with the good! The staff at the bar are excellent, really friendly and lovely. And there is a great atmosphere in this pub. My review is about our disappointing meal. The food itself wasn't poor in quality, Pieminster pies are excellent always. We ordered the pie, mash, gravy and peas for £14.50. However when the pie came out I genuinely wondered where the mash was! I remembered eating this meal here before and it being a decent portion so was shocked to find about two sad tablespoons worth under the pie about 2cm deep 🤣 I had ordered with my partner and we were bought out a small pot of peas after our pies arrived. We waited for the other pot only to realise we were presumably meant to share the small portion in one pot between us. Such a shame you've chosen to reduce your portion sizes so much as it doesn't really make a proper meal now, which for £14.50 you'd expect. We should have taken a photo really to share on here as we were all laughing so much about how little mash we were served, especially as it's so ridiculously cheap to make so it doesn't even make sense to be so stingy, so at least we had a...

The Rumsey Wells seems like a nice proper pub that serves a good range of drinks. I did however go in there a couple of weeks ago with my father in law, brother and a few friends in the afternoon. There was 2 other customers who were already in the pub who happened to leave shortly after we arrived. They didn't complain about the noise (we weren't that noisy to be honest) but the barman then said we are only allowed one more drink as we were too loud. We were the only people in there at this time of the afternoon and weren't being especially loud. We though he'd be happy to have 6 customers who would have probably spent a couple of hundred quid in there but obviously not. There was no issue, we drank up and left, went to the pub across the road and spent our money in there instead. It was just a shame as I've enjoyed drinking in The Rumsey Wells in...

Love the Rumsey but thought today's rudeness couldn't go unmentioned. Wife and I needed to discuss end of life care for a friend so took our seat and saw the big signs on the table saying "order here" in bold, so we did. Drinks and pie. When the barman brought our drinks he said "you didn't fancy the walk to the bar then?" In an off tone. "Well, the menu seemed to imply we should order on the app". "I hate those things, we're not wetherspoons". Fine. Thanks for your opinion and for throwing the cutlery down with the face of gloom on you. Really not our fault the pub wants to use an app. Would have happily ordered at the bar. Disappointing attitude which made a difficult day harder. Appreciate he may be having a hard day too but I guarantee it wasn't as hard as ours. Food server was delightful and the pies...

I haven't rated food as I didn't purchase the pies they sell, however I can confirm they do look good! I visited for the first time Saturday evening (27/04/24) and I'm not from Norwich. Where I live the pubs aren't friendly or have any character, where as this place has everything. The beer mat drawings give it a personal feel which is inviting. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Mixture of characters! I paid £4.80 for a vodka and coke and truthfully that's a pretty good price, especially on a weekend and being almost central. I love the ice and slice extras. There were live DJs and all three played different mixes, so there was something to suit everyone. Great for locals! Would 100% recommend a visit to thus place.

Nestled in the heart of Norwich, at 4 St Andrews Street, The Rumsey Wells is a pub that excels at doing two things: beers done well and hearty, no-nonsense British comfort food, especially pies, mash, peas & gravy. It’s the sort of place that feels warm and spirited, ideal for anything from a solo ale to a relaxed dinner with friends.

Authentic pub in Norwich, nice laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. Has a really good vibe about it. Haven't tried the food ( specialises in Pies and Pizza) but if overall pub experience is anything to go by, am sure food is of a high standard..
