Sad to say but voodoos is not what it used to be. Used to be good at the old venue, but current venue is dreary in comparison, less authentic dive bar vibes, i'd say more like a gentrified dive bar than anything. I miss the grit of old voodoos! Cocktails were disappointing this evening, especially the smoked pineapple one. By description it's sounds stunning, in reality it tasted of nothing but charcuterie, (specifically prosciutto), would've been better as a dirty Martin with olives. Not only this but the cocktail selection is very limited with only six options, with 3 out of 4 we tried being Bad. The one cocktail we actually like is surprisingly the one we were advised not to get, don't know whether that was because the bar staff don't like it themselves or the fact that we were two girls, either way was a weird experience. Despite all this I will say the pizza is always good, with a decent variety and interesting flavours. The live music variety is always expansive and a pretty decent mix, although crowds are sometimes laking energy. Overall it's an okay place on certain nights but I don't rush...
Read moreVoodoo Daddy's showroom used to be my favourite place on a night out in Norwich, always used to recommend to colleagues and mates, but I feel since the move they have 'sold-out'.
I agree the new gig venue downstairs is better acoustically, but everywhere else has lost the home-ly feel the old venue had. It is practically just another bar for Gonzos now (even having to walk next door to use Gonzo's toilets), rather than a separate bar for the people who like good music and a good pint. You can no longer enjoy a pint and a smoke outside, the layout is completely different and having a sit-down and playing some retro videogames or having a go at Guitar-Hero is awkward.
Still the staff, the drinks and food are incredible. I think the pizza is one of the best in Norwich and the staff are inviting and friendly.
I would still recommend this place, but to a separate audience. Maybe a date night or a recommendation to one of my older colleagues, but it is no-longer the trendy and easy-going place...
Read moreI’ve had repeated, terrible experiences with this place, and at this point, it feels targeted.
The first time, I specifically ordered a pizza without bacon for dietary reasons. Instead of just removing it, they took the bacon and added it to a different pizza in the order—one that never included bacon in the first place. It was thrown away.
This week, I ordered two pizzas that don’t even come with bacon, and one of them still somehow arrived with bacon on it. To top it off, there was a hair baked into the pizza.
This is beyond carelessness—it feels deliberate. Once is a mistake. Twice is intentional. I’m now concerned this may be discrimination or profiling based on my name or address. Absolutely...
