Jeromes Cafe — Restaurant in Nottingham

Visited today, the food was nice good variety of options, and the atmosphere and design was very appealing. Such a gem in a place like Bulwell and love to support local businesses. However the service we received today was not up to par. This lady with black hair, glasses took our order a sandwich and 2 lasagne but we asked if we could "swap the garlic bread for some fries" on 1 plate, the server said "No we don't do swaps" so we added a side of fries instead. They only had 1 lasagne left so I ordered something else which was no problem. Until our food came and the lasagne had no garlic bread which COMES with the meal we PAID for. So we asked our server where our garlic bread is and she in a very argumentative way said "You didn't want it" and we explained over and over that we "wanted to swap but couldn't, not that we didn't want it" This lady continued to debate with us how we "didn't want the bread" that COMES with the meal we PAID for and had a back and forth with us until she huffed off and got the bread. This took us by surprise because it couldve been a simple "sorry I thought you didn't want it, I'll get that for you right away" but no she wanted to conflict on what was clearly not an issue. She didn't apologise for her behaviour and when taking our bill she wasn't sure if it was correct and charged up extra for the lasagne we didn't have. She was clearly disorganised and rude. Today was our first visit to Jeromes and what an absolute pleasure it was! The whole atmosphere was amazing when we walked in. We were kindly greeted and seated immediately. The cafe was calm, clean and the decor is spectacular. Extremely stylish! We had the privilege of being served by the beautiful, kind, friendly and very attentive Dawn who was all smiles and quick to take our drinks order. She ensured that we were happy and comfortable for our whole visit, was very chatty and polite (loved hearing about her family), and she certainly went the extra mile to provide me with extra ice and even arranged for someone to pop out to the shops and buy some sweet chilli sauce to accompany my halloumi after I asked if they had any and they didn't. She is an absolute credit to the business! We have definitely found our new favourite spot in the heart of Bulwell and cannot wait for our next visit...

Came for quid breakfast. I came on my own and was seated by not really welcoming girl and then left alone for few minutes. Then she seated another family of four and disappeared for few minutes more. She came back and asked them first what they want to drink. Then she disappeared for few more minutes and finally came to take my order. She asked what drink do I want, I said I'd have a tea and can I also order food. She said I need to order drink first and when it's ready I can order food. I said I want only full english and if she can order it now so while I wait for tea kitchen can start making my food. She then told me "this is how thing are here" and I can order food when my drink is ready. At this point I felt I'm not really welcomed here and left. Quite bad experience to be honest, definitely...
