The most authentic Indian restaurant I've been to in the UK. Fortunately, British dining culture has got more diverse over the past thirty years - it no longer needs to Anglicise everything. This place tastes just like Chennai. Basic spice levels are quite high for the lilly livered (that's code for my Brit tastebuds) but are worth acclimatising to for the range and delicacy of flavours within them, and there are specifically milder dishes on the menu. I had the reasonably heated, lunchtime non-veg thali. Every dish was distinct and the platter was fully loaded. For fifteen quid it's a quirky adventure and a culinary bargain. On my previous visit I'd indulged in a lamb chukka starter, which was actually enough for a main, its sauce, from just its own cooking juices and added spices, managed to be dry, juicy, delicate and rich all at the same time. A real local restaurant in which service is smiling, polite and attentive.

Newly opened place with authentic South Asian food. Their starters usually come with accompanying curries. Idli was soft, Wada was well made, and huge dosa enough for 1 person to eat. Masala Uttapam had a good balance of flavours. Chicken 65 was good as well. The highlight was the mutton Biriyani, bursting with flavours. Food is not spicy but enjoyable. Portions look small but very filling. They have a Thali menu to choose between veg, fish and chicken I think. We had a Fish Thali - comes with curries common to all thalis and a special fish curry added for the Fish Thali. Desert was good and piping hot (Rava). Chai was a little weak for me, in comparison to other places. I prefer a full-bodied and thicker chai. Overall recommended šŸ’Æ and would visit again Dine-in āœ”ļø Take-away āœ”ļø Delivery āœ”ļø Street parking available āœ”ļø

All I can say Is wow! Thought we would give this a try - desi, Muslim spice loving family lol! Really wanted to try here and wasn't sure what to expect but WOW! Honestly what a delightful suprise. Everything was absolutely delicious. Halal meat, with lots of veggie and vegan options! Honestly from starters to mains to sides literally everything was ordered was insanely good! Lovely authentic south Indian food.. Amazing options. Really felt authentic, well done honestly to the owners, chefs and all staff! šŸ˜šŸ˜ We will definitely be back very soon to try other things on the menu! Everything is so so reasonably priced too 🤯 Also the staff were just all really lovely and so friendly! The decor inside is absolutely STUNNING too! See you soon 😁

Thambi's Kitchen: Where Every Bite Is a Flavor Explosion

āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be enveloped in a culinary hug, look no further than Thambi's Kitchen. I waltzed into this place with a simple hope for a nice meal and left feeling like I’d just uncovered a hidden treasure trove of flavor.

Let’s start with the decor—absolutely phenomenal. It’s like stepping into an art gallery where every piece is a tribute to the vibrancy and warmth of South Asian culture. You don’t just eat here; you dine in a masterpiece.

Now, onto the food. The Chicken 65 was tender and juicy, bursting with flavors that could make even the most stoic food critic shed a tear of joy. It’s the kind of dish that makes you rethink every other chicken dish you’ve ever had. The dosas were so light and crispy they practically danced off the plate. I’m not saying they were the best I’ve ever had, but they might just be the benchmark against which all future dosas will be measured.

And the chicken noodles—oh my word! They were so good they could probably win a Nobel Prize for their contribution to human happiness. Rich, savory, and with just the right amount of spice, they’re the perfect blend of comfort and delight.

Thambi’s Kitchen also boasts an immense menu with a dizzying array of dosas, vegetarian dishes, and a variety of idlis for every type of meat lover. Whether you're a die-hard vegetarian or a committed carnivore, they’ve got something to tantalize your taste buds.

As for the staff, while they might not have been the overly bubbly type, they worked their tails off to make sure our massive party was well taken care of. Their professionalism and patience were remarkable, especially considering how late we ran and how many specific requests we had. They handled everything with impressive efficiency and a calm demeanor.

In summary, Thambi’s Kitchen isn’t just a meal; it’s a culinary journey that leaves you breathless and begging for more. If you haven’t been yet, get yourself over there and experience what is quite possibly the most incredible food adventure of your life.

Pro Tip: Don’t skip dessert! You’ll want to end your meal on the highest note possible after such an...

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant that I feel compelled to share. First and foremost, the drinks they served were either short-dated or expired, and when I brought this up to the staff, they refused to offer a refund. The staff were unhelpful and dismissive—rather than acknowledging the issue, they started cross-questioning me about the expiration date and even tried to justify it by saying the drink would only expire in five days. To make matters worse, when I mentioned I had already consumed half of the drink, they used that as an excuse to deny a refund.

The service was shockingly poor—there was no effort to resolve the situation, and I ended up waiting ages for the manager, who never even bothered to show up. The hostess was especially unprofessional, giving us uncomfortable stares and making us feel downright awkward. It was a truly unsettling experience, and the lack of proper management and customer care was apparent throughout.

I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I certainly won't be returning. This experience has left me not only frustrated but genuinely traumatized by the lack of respect and consideration from both the staff...
