Very disappointed, wouldnât be let in to use their toilet even after explaining I had a chronic illness (Crohnâs disease) and needed use of a toilet imminently due to my disability. Wouldnât recommend, manager was very dismissive and inconsiderate.
(Reply to the three wheatsheaves response) I am disappointed by your response. I obviously did not try to use the toilet when the pub was closed. I was queueing for an event held in the beer garden. The pub was open to customers not going to the event, and the portaloos in the beer garden were in use. I was refused by the manager to use any available toilets even after I explained it was urgent due to my chronic medical condition. I ended up having to go to the Sainsburyâs near your pub, where the staff were understanding and empathetic of my condition and situation, and let me use the staff toilet. I hope that in future you will take accountability, and learn from this incident, instead of making up excuses, since you didnât know the date and time I...
Read moreBought 6 drinks between us whilst the game was on, ordered an uber and went back in to wait whilst it was raining outside. Got asked to leave in a very aggressive manner because we werenât drinking anything because âthere were other patrons waiting to sit downâ without a hint of irony whilst standing in a corner of the pub populated by just us, and one other man sitting on his own with spare seats all around us.
Not even the option to buy another pint was offered they immediately asked us to leave and wait for our uber in the rain. The old bald man even started yelling and causing a scene with one of my friends for âeyeballing him upâ apparently he does not realise that itâs just polite to look at someone whilst talking to them.
Itâs a shame because we used to come under the old management a lot and wanted to come back for the nostalgia, but instead had quite an awful time.
If you want a nicer place just go to the Rose and Crown...
Read moreThis used to be a great student pub that has been a favourite of my group of friends for over 2 years, but the new management appear to have employed a policy of aggression.
A group of 4 of us bought 2 pints each over the course of a game of football. After the game, we ordered an Uber and decided to wait inside as it was raining. The manager took issue with this and told us to get out, claiming we hadn't bought any drinks at all and that there were "lots of patrons with nowhere to sit". The pub was rapidly emptying after the game and there was plenty of empty seating. When one of our group pointed out that we had bought drinks the manager jammed his finger on his chest and started shouting. We left with no fuss and stood in the rain for 10 minutes.
The Rose and Crown is 2 minutes up the road and will provide far better service...
