Tucked away in the heart of Sherwood is a little gem run by two young gents, Jacob and Tom, whose energy seems to infuse every corner of their bagel haven. Step inside and youâll find mouthwatering offerings. But more than that, thereâs a buzz, a warmth, a sense that youâre in on something special.
The bagels themselves? Exquisitely fresh, with that perfect chew that only comes from someone who respects their craft. From the classics done impeccably well, to inventive fillings that make you wonder why no one thought of them before, each one feels like a small celebration wrapped in dough. Pair it with their coffee â optimally strong, smooth, and just the right foil for a morning, a midweek pick-me-up or weekend treat â and youâve got yourself a winning combination.
But what elevates The Bagel House above the rest are Jacob and Tom themselves. Vibrant, engaging, and full of good humour, theyâve created a place where customers feel more like guests at a friendâs table. Sure, you leave with a bagel (or one in your belly) and you leave with a smile, a lighter step, and the promise that youâll be back.
Sherwood might be known for its history, but thanks to these two, itâs now also known for the best...
Read moreThe BP is a very welcome addition to Sherwood, especially after losing The Bakehouse and being replaced by a not-so-great cafe. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is busy but still relaxing. There are just a couple of things that niggle me.
Firstly, I ordered my bagel to eat in, so why isn't it served on a plate? Instead it's served in paper, like a McDonald's burger, which can't be reused or recycled.
Secondly, an more bizarrely, why have I been given a paper cup to put my teabag in? What's wrong with a regular saucer?
At a time when the world is trying to focus on reuse or recycle, it seems odd to be providing items that are so unnecessary and have very easy replacements.
Overall a great place to go, but let down by these simply...

Giving a lower rating however, because we sat inside to eat and it was genuinely really dirty and disgusting in there.
All of the tables were messy or had previous customers stuff on still. A member of staff came to move a left over cup, as we sat at a dirty table, but they never offered to clean it.
The booth area was filthy and the cushions were linty and covered it bits of stuff. Toilet area was also quite filthy.
If theyâre too busy with service to tidy up, then it could do with a bin for empty wrappers and a space to return cups too, hopefully customers will clean up their mess and ease the load.
Itâs also a bit confusing to see that V is vegan and VE is vegetarian, since that isnât...
