Have been here quite a lot over the past few years and was generally pretty good overall. Not today, a Saturday afternoon about 330pm, the pub wasn't that busy though I think it probably had been over the lunch service. The staff were to be fair pleasant and helpful, I think they were short staffed too and were struggling to cope. We selected a booth to sit in as you have plenty of room and the bench chairs are soft and more comfy than some of the old wooden chairs they have at other tables. There was paper menu's, tissues and bits of food under the table, the table itself was sticky and had bits of food and crumbs over it and a dirty tv screen at the wall end.

I ordered a seafood platter for my girlfriend and I ordered the quadzilla burger for myself and two pints of soda water and lime, despite asking to double up on the lime cordial ( if that's what it was ) it barely tasted. I asked the barman if a member of staff could pop to our table and give it a wipe over before our food arrived, this didn't happen, our food came out after about 20 minutes so not too bad waiting wise. The young staff member was nice enough but was obviously new to his role or hadn't been trained, just put the plates down and didn't ask us if we wanted any other sauces or anything ( used to do sachets of tartare sauce, salad cream and the like ) now its just salt n pepper , tomato sauce and mayo. The seafood platter was supposed to come with tartare and curry sauce, we had to ask for it, it was bought out, well about a thimble full of each which had barely any taste. My burger tasted cheap and was burnt, cold and dry, chips were almost cold, onion rings were tasteless and my girlfriend's seafood platter was a plate of crispy coating that had been overcooked with little filling, ie prawn, cod ! We had literally taken a mouthful each and one of the staff asked if our food was ok, I replied I'm sorry but no and asked for a refund.

I don't know what has happened to this pub, it used to be very good, lively, good food and drink quality and value for money. Maybe we were just unlucky today due to staff shortage and they had been busy or something. I have recently visited Sixfields HungryHorse in Northampton ( newly rebuilt after a fire ) and it was superior to this. We wont be visiting again, very poor all round, sorry Greene King, you failed miserably on...

I went I a couple of years ago and I had gone severely downhill, I vouched to never go again, when I saw it has been refurbished I thought great maybe they have new management, but alas it's still run just as badly. I wenthere for a drink and a pudding evening time 7pmish with the wife as a tester before coming and spending properly with the entire family and spending a lot, first of all, almost every table had stacks of plates on them not cleared, the ones that were cleared were not wiped down and absolutely splattered with food. The app didn't recognise a deal and didn't prompt for the drink to go with it (part of the deal) so I went to the till, the girl here went though the deal and the price was let's say £19 I then presented my AA discount and was told that's £18.70, I said that's not 15% off and she argued and argued that's what the till says. So I shown her the same bill with exactly the same items with the same deal and discount on the app showing the 15% off obviously far cheaper with a breakdown of the costs. She refused this and got shirty asking so I want it or not, I said if you cannot match your greeneking app price then forget it and ordered on the app mysefl and then had to argue to get my drink that was included as part of the meal as the app did not prompt which coffee to include.

The same time I was there there was a guy behind me complaining that he hadn't had his starter after 55mins (nachos sharer) and that he doesn't understand as it's not really been particularly busy and was looking for a refund.

Tl:Dr looks pretty, has real potential, sadly it needs some real staff training and regular cleanups and plates removing ect. Then and maybe then it will be worth a visit, until then probably avoid and go to one of the many many other far better...

I'm not bothered about food and neither are my kids. We all eat anything but the food was dibolacal. My boys left more than half a plate of food, saying that their potatoes were dry. We were also very disappointed that there were no stuffing on the Sunday dinner. They also left the chicken as it was too dry for them to eat, tough and tasteless. I had the same as my boys Chicken Sunday roast and I must say it was awful. The only nice things about it was the mash and the Yorkshire pudding. I Struggled to eat the rest and like I said I'm not at all a fussy eater. My partner had a mixed grill and that was even worse. The sausages tasted boiled. I tried them myself and wanted to spit them out. They were disgusting, don't know how he ate them. The gammon was tough and very salty. The steak he asked for a medium and it was pretty much blue. Chicken was drier than the ones that we were served. Staff: none of them looked happy at all, looked like they were at a funeral parlour and the beer tastes really cheap. The gents toilets were flooded which can't be helped but the disabled toilets which were the alternative option were gross. There was mould growing on the floor under the soap dispenser and just filthy in all other aspects. Won't be going back again which is a shame as has some good pointers to the place I.e sports, Sky, well catered for when it came...

I went to the Oadby Owl today for the first time since the refurbishment. The decor and improvements look very good. There is a lot more outside seating, covered and uncovered. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We arrived just before 3pm, a quiet time, and was shocked. It looked like a battlefield. The challenge was to find a table. Not one which was free, there were plenty of those, but one which was clean. The entire time we were there I didn’t notice any getting cleared. We ordered on the app. Drinks took 10 mins and the meal 30 mins. Not too bad but if it was busy, I’d hate to think how long the wait would be. We ordered two burgers which were very disappointing. They came on quite small plates with small portions. It should have come with bbq sauce which was missed. They were called ‘smashed’ burgers. If that means cremating them, then they’ve perfected that. For £13.49 each, it’s overpriced. There was no welcome, no how was your food, no goodbyes. There are much better options in the area, I won’t return until things have vastly improved.

Came here on Sunday night for some food and drink. There were plenty of seats available and wasn’t really busy which was actually nice and more enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and food and drink came out quickly after ordering. Ranked down a star because the stuffing balls on the Sunday dinner were cremated and hard, and the roasties were a bit over done. Gammon ordered was sat in a pool of grease on the plate (had to mop up with napkins) which wasn’t the best (should have left to rest for a minute and drained oil). Ordered a big candy mania and it was missing ingredients that was on the menu and also came in an underwhelming bowl which definitely wasn’t the portion size you should/used to get as it was massive before in a big sundae bowl. For the most part the food was tasty and good value for money, will be back again soon and hope that the kitchen just had a bit of an off day.

The Oadby Owl pub is a beautiful establishment both inside and out. The lovely beer garden is a great spot to relax, and the extensive restaurant offers a comfortable dining experience. The pub is very clean, and the decor is amazing, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and polite, making the visit even more enjoyable. We ordered the gammon, buttermilk chicken burger, and hunters chicken, and all were freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were generous, leaving us with no room for dessert! However, I did notice that there isn't much choice for vegetarians. I ordered the mushroom chili, but it had a bit too much of a smoky flavor for my taste and could use a bit more rice on the side, along with some green garnish. Overall, it's an excellent place for meat eaters, with fantastic service and a great atmosphere.
