First visit with my Mum in 1972, My last 53 years later .

Every Sunday roast was bought from here even when Oadby had several traditional butchers shops Raggs was the best meat.

I got the Opal Fruits as a child waiting patiently in the queue with Mum - on a good day I got three .

I remember Mr Ragg Senior cycling on his delivery bike with the big basket on the front, wearing his striped apron. What a lovely gentleman he was, tipping his hat as he rode by. Good old fashioned customer service - a guaranteed smile from staff who knew your name.

The tastiest ham which will never be bettered anywhere. Your fillet steak was butter soft and the best I had ever tasted.

Thank you for the bulls eye I requested in about 1980 which you kindly sourced free of charge for my science lesson . I hid it in a margarine tub in the fridge causing Mum to almost pass out when she opened it thinking it was margarine.

Oadby will miss you and 75 years and one day of history.

Get back to your local butcher everyone! After years of buying meat mainly from supermarkets for reasons of convenience, I have finally decided to shop at Raggs as I pass here quite regularly. I have not been disappointed! I have sampled rack of lamb, silverside beef and casserole beef - all excellent quality and no more expensive than the supermarket. Lovely local butchers, it's nice supporting your local small businesses rather than going to Asda or similar stores, you actually get more for your money and it's cheaper and you get the finest quality meats here than the supermarkets attempt of equivalent.
