I do not like leaving bad reviews but people need to be aware of how bad this place is. I was staying at premier inn next door and walked in for breakfast at the beefeater.
Once I walked in with my family we were shown to our table and we sat down. Not once did anyone say that the breakfast is made to order as I thought there was a hot food counter for the breakfast. I wandered around looking for the food counter and although staff saw me walking around looking lost not one person approached me. I then walked up to a member of staff and asked about the food counter, her reply completely shocked me. She almost screamed and said ‘food counter? Don’t you know it’s fresh to order? Haven’t you been told?! ‘ her attitude was so rude and I was in complete shock. As I sat down to order I was given filthy menus, I asked if they had vegetarian sausages her reply shocked me even further she just pointed at the menu and said ‘it’s all there’. At this point I should’ve walked out because clearly this female middle aged staff member had some issue with me and my family. After we received our breakfast which was awful I noticed that this particular member of staff was very jovial with other customers apart from me and my family. She didn’t say good morning or even bothered to ask about any allergies when we ordered. However every other customer she served the first question was did they have any allergies. Clearly she didn’t care about my family or our specific needs. I am Asian and Muslim and I felt it was more to do with the colour of my skin. I have never felt so under threat before when going out to eat. I raised a complaint with the very friendly Nicola at the premier inn who said she will take it up with the beefeater general manager.
The next morning when we went to have breakfast we were served by the same rude and obnoxious female staff member. When she saw us again it’s like she didn’t want to make any eye contact, she looked down at the laptop at the counter without acknowledging that we are standing in front of her then she looked up And said good morning and then asked any allergies, I found this very odd because clearly she must have been told that a complaint has been made so she decided to ask straightaway about allergies etc. my family and I felt unwanted due to the rude customer service by this one staff member and decided not to order any cooked food as we did not want any interaction from this person again. I have stayed at various premier inns all over the country for many years and have always opted to have breakfast each morning. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had and I will not step another foot at any beefeater again. I will be emailing beefeater headquarters to raise a formal complaint about this female member of staff.
The reason we visited Oldham in the first place was due to a wedding and because of this unpleasant interaction I felt it ruined our whole trip. Let me make this crystal clear if you are Asian / or any other ethnic minority and Muslim please don’t visit this place. I am a British Asian and very proud to be British but for the first time in my life I felt like I don’t belong here. Beefeater please look into this. The particular female member of staff needs more customer service training and also needs to treat...
Read moreTired and dated. Looks nothing like the pictures. I haven't been to a beefeater in years. The last time was in London 30+ years ago. We got there and walked into a quiet bar with the staff milling around chatting amongst themselves. We walked round to the bar and asked if we could sit down. The place was deserted bar a couple of people. Asked if we had a reservation. No, we didn't.. so we got palmed off round in an alcove area next to the kitchen door. Sat at one table.. sticky top, so we moved to another tired table. No waiter or waitress.. I just read a menu and chose our order.. I went up to the bar to place the order. One guy serving an elderly gentleman and chatting to his friend who turned up at the bar. There is no acknowledgement of me standing there. Other staff members pottering around behind the bar, one girl stocking the fridge. I asked her if she would take my order. The guy was busy chatting to his mate and serving. He curtly turned to me and said, "i will serve you in a minute. There is only one till on." The girl just ignored me.. By now, more people are coming into the bar/restaurant. I waited to give my order patiently. He eventually got to me.. What's your order.. I started and gave one dish followed by him saying at the end of every single item. Anything else? For god's sake, let me just get it out without you interrupting. I will tell you when im finished. Deliberately being rude just because I'd asked another member of staff if she could serve me. We placed the order and was then told to go get my own knives and forks from another sticky table set to one side. Its a restaurant, are you not meant to bring them to me? Are you not taking orders at the table? Customer service is a disgrace.. Attitude is a disgrace..
The food was average..
The staff seem to think its a local pub where they chat to their mates, and other customers are an inconvenience. The service was poor at best. Not welcoming, and the fact we sat ourselves and had to get our own cutlery and condiments was ridiculous.
It's a beefeater.. seat your customers, bring menues, dress the table, and definitely dont use cheap condiment sachets!
We ate and left.. To say it's attached to a premier inn and no doubt gets the trade from there. The service is shocking.
I travel a lot with my work, spending thousands on premiere inn accommodation. Obviously, eating out comes with that. This place needs the staff trained in customer service and the whole place given a once over. It's tired and unwelcoming.
If the guy serving yesterday reads this. You need a few lessons in politeness and customer service. Acknowledgement goes a long way. Customers come before your mates.
I give honest and impartial reviews. Up your game and learn how to interact with customers. I spent £50 yesterday. It would have been more if it hadn't been for the poor service and condition...
Read moreLike many of my friends, I was under the impression that Beefeater was a somewhat dated restaurant chain, gradually fading into obscurity. However, after attending a city game, my son and I stayed at the adjacent Premier Inn and decided to dine at Beefeater, expecting little. To our delight, the experience was unexpectedly pleasing.
Opting for simplicity, we both ordered the double stack burger accompanied by regular fries. The total came to approximately £38, which is standard fare nowadays. The burgers arrived looking deceptively appetizing and fresh, much to my surprise. They were, without exaggeration, some of the finest I've enjoyed in years, featuring a rich smoky BBQ flavor, perfectly balanced with fresh greens and just the right amount of sauce.
The fries seemed to be standard deep-fried fare, nothing out of the ordinary, but the accompanying coleslaw was notably fresh and quite delightful.
For dessert, we indulged in sticky toffee pudding, which seemed pre-made but was nonetheless satisfactory. My minor quibble was with the scant serving of custard—a trend I attribute to modern culinary fashion, which tends to favor less over more. However, this was a minor point and the best critique I could muster.
The restaurant was notably quiet for a Saturday evening, lacking much in the way of ambiance, yet this did nothing to detract from the quality of the meal. If the rest of the menu is prepared with similar care, I’m at a loss as to why it wasn’t busier.
Breakfast the next morning was equally commendable, although there was a slight miscount with the bacon servings. Nevertheless, the quality of the food spoke for itself, and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
Overall, Beefeater delivered a surprisingly good dining experience. It’s a place I would...
