Dear Glut ... what can I say .. I have been to your restaurant in George St Oxford at least half a dozen times and have raved over the quality , taste and quantity of the food you serve, so much so that I have encouraged many family and friends to try you .. However tonight ... what a disappointment.. we pre booked for 6 persons for 7pm. On arrival quite correctly we were asked to sanitise and shown our seats . We were the only ones in the restaurant. After some time the single waitress attended our table and took our order 6 beef burgers fries etc and 3 bottomless diet cokes 1bottomless Fanta and 2 beers . After a very long wait the waitress came to our table and told us that we could not have the draught diet cokes only bottles and there was no Fanta , we agreed with bottled drinks although much more expensive. A while later we received our drinks . At this point 2 more persons came in. After another bit of a wait the waitress came back to our table and apologised profusely, but the chef only had 3 beef patties.. so 3 of us would have to change our order .. as we were settled and hungry we reluctantly decided to have 3 chicken burgers and the 3 beef patties ... When we got it , the quality and taste did not disappoint. However we found it incredible that having pre booked , they did not have what we wanted and we were not informed on our arrival so that we could have chosen whether to continue with our booking or not , it’s only right we should have been given the choice, surely it wasn’t a surprise to the chef when we ordered that they only had 3 beef patties?!!! not only that , they waited to tell us once we had our drinks and were sat down comfortably.. We watched with interest then as every person who then came in was shown to a table drink orders taken and delivered and once they had their drinks were told there were no beef burgers... We heard the waitress say to the table in front of us “ ooh I forgot, we’ve got no beef burgers..” So clearly the waitress was aware but was instructed or off her own back chose not say until the customer was enticed ..! Once we finished we asked for the bill , the waitress then made another mistake as she had to take the bill way and add the gratuity because there were 6 of us. We could have been reminded that, that was the case When we booked , so we were prepared .. But ... the biggest disappointment despite the apologies, was that really we should have been offered either a discount or free drinks as the bottled ones were more expensive or indeed the gratuity waived .. I’m not putting this review on to give them a bad name but I did tell the waitress at the end and no attempt was made to please the customer, so I consider it necessary to make the public aware and indeed the management, that tonight’s service was shocking .. and all in all a very disappointing...

Excellent quality burger joint in Oxford but a bit sore for your wallet!
Taste: 5/5 Taste was excellent, its exactly the quality of food you would expect. Nice crunchy chicken wings, i had Korean bbq sauce which was great. The buttermilk burger was also great, a nice sized fillet with great crunch. The burger did lack taste on the gherkin, either wasn't the freshest or had been left out of its brine!
Atmosphere: 3/5 Its a nice space, but low lighting and dark ceiling gives it more of a bar vibe. People walking past could be easily mistaken. Perhaps an LeD burger icon in the window might be an obvious enough sign. It was quiet, music wasn't playing when i arrived at 14:15pm but did come on. The place is empty, which is surprising as the food is great. Maybe a re-design of the layout could help hide open and empty spaces which might deter people coming in. The bathroom was dirty, seems to have not been "cleaned" in a while with dirt stained tiles. Takes 10 minutes to spray and wipe down the tiles with a scourer. Food was left on collection side when restaurant was empty. KP was slacking!
Value for money: 2.5/5 The menu has increased over 30% in price since 2020 for most items. £11.50 for a burger, without chips is already high end for this style restaurant. £4 for fries is also a lot to pay. Plain fries...£4...£3.50 tops. It was 5 wings for £7.50 which again for that price would expect 8 wings. Its over £1 a wing which although they taste great is expensive. £23 for a burger meal with a side of wings and water for drink is too expensive which might be why its empty and some reviews mention that! I asked the waitress, and there is no special menu. No combo chicken and beef (but there is £3.50 to add another patty) I would expect a lunch time menu would go down a hit from 12:00pm-16:00pm for example Burger, fries and a drink £15 Its reasonable and you would expect plenty of return customers at that price. Buy 2 burgers get any side/desert £5 for friends eating together Include fries in burger options for £2.50 extra. Not £4 for fries. Dirty fries is where you add cost.
Overall: 3.5/5 Ive rated 4 as the food is good, and is worth of 4 stars. There is some house keeping improvements needed and a review of the menu pricing/lunch time menus. For the price, I wouldn't return in a hurry. I can't justify £23 for a single persons meal I would have been happy to pay between £17.50-£20 for what i ordered. £23 made me feel its too expensive and...

I was away in Oxford on my own for work this week, and looking for a place for some food. Having read a good few reviews, good and bad, I decided to give this place a try.
I'll be honest, the lack of recent reviews on here and Google made me wonder if the restaurant was still open, I walked past a couple of closed down venues, but found Glut to still be open.
When I arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty, and I was seated really quickly by the waitress. She was really keen to take my order, and I hadn't quite decided what I was having, so I asked her to come back. The apple juice arrived very quickly.
When she came back, I ordered the dirty chicken burger, some fried pickles and an apple juice. They only had diet drinks in stock despite the menu offering the good stuff.
Whilst waiting for my meal to arrive, a huge party arrived, they filled up the large table in the middle of the restaurant, and they kept arriving. After a bit, one of the staff members politely asked if I would move, as the group was huge. Of course I moved: they asked politely, and the group wanted to sit together, whereas I was on my own. Not a problem.
My meal arrived as 2 separate parts. The burger first and then the frickles. This is not a complaint, simply an observation. The burger was absolutely spot on. Really tasty, not dry, the sauces were good, the bread was soft enough, but not too soft. I may have accidentally ordered an extra blue cheese sauce... Overall a fantastic burger. The frickles were super tasty too, and came with another pot of blue cheese sauce, really tasty again. They were sliced lengthways, so not tiny little pucks, rather, just the right size. The meal was a little messy, and the kitchen towels on the table came in handy, and I nipped to the toilet to wash my hands, the ladies toilet was closed, but the accessible toilet appeared clean and had plenty of soap and warm water.
The wait to pay took a while, but the restaurant was super busy by this point, so completely understandable.
I paid £20 all in, which I was really happy with. I feel like I got good value for money.
Definitely recommend and...
