Il Botanico — Restaurant in Oxford

Great mango and strawberry gelato, but the tiramisu gelato was unfortunately missing flavor.

I was not a fan of the strawberry jam and custard donut I tried due to the overpowering sweetness of the jam. I found the mixed berries cheesecake also not to my liking due to little custard or berry flavor coming through, and the discernible texture mostly being the over-moist sponge base, which fell apart when being transferred from the counter for serving.

I think the pastries being kept in the heat did not help; I ate the pastries immediately upon buying, but they were already warm. The gelato was also already half-melted when served, so I had to rush to finish it.

Still, there are a range of other pastries there to try which are hopefully better than my selections, and perhaps if I'd come on less swelteringly hot days, I would have liked the cheesecake better.

The staff were also lovely on the two occasions I went there. I'd buy the fruit gelatos...

The loveliest place to relax with a coffee and a pastry. Really lovely food, mouthwatering food, phenomenally peaceful atmosphere. The coffees great. They have a huge variety of pastries, i recommend the apricot croissant. The Aran uni and focaccia are also delicious if you’re looking for something a bit more filling. Served hot on gorgeous crockery. I love the concept of selling plants that also feature as decor, it’s a very soul soothing place. Especially because the staff are all so nice. I’ve been here about three times since moving here recently and every staff member has such welcoming energy. The position is so nice because you can sit in the back near the deli in a dark corner and read a nice book, or up at the front in the window with bright sunshine, watching the people stroll by, sipping and soaking up the uv rays like the giant sentient plant...

IL Botanico is one of those rare places that instantly makes you feel at ease. It offers an outstanding selection of authentic italian pastries from amazing cornetti,italian croissants,to crispy cannoli and beautifully crafted cakes that taste just as amazing as they look.
