What a lovely café, such a nice 'hippie' vibe with good quality food with lots of vegetables - it's surprisingly hard to get food on the go with enough veg! It's a little hidden gem; we looked it up and wouldn't have found it otherwise as it's set back from the main roads. This means it doesn't get passing custom in the same way - a less hurried and calmer vibe. All vegetarian and lots of vegan options, to eat in or to take away. Really interesting décor as well, a mix of Indian ornaments, local artists and a miscellany of knick knacks! Seemed like there were some regulars there, people having meetings using the cafe WiFi, and the way the seating is set out it means you're likely to be sharing unless you catch one of the free single tables. A very community minded...

My first visit to the Magic Cafe on Saturday was delightful. The space is welcoming, comfy, light, airy and cosy all at the same time. The service was exceptional. As a coeliac, it’s so important to feel supported when asking questions about the food and how it’s prepared. This mother/daughter duo were very kind and generous with their time on a busy day in the cafe. The food was fresh, tasty and filling - I’m not a vegetarian but after eating here I could be. I wish I could eat Magic Cafe food every day! The coffee and cakes were an added bonus - a lovely selection including two gluten free options (almond/orange or chocolate/beetroot). Thank you for a delicious lunch served...

Visited on Saturday with a friend from out of Oxford. Waited at counter to be served, nothing! Decided to grab a table and get settled then back to the counter. One of the ladies was eating in the kitchen but could see my friend and I were both waiting to order. She cane eventually, not very helpful, no politeness or customer service. Slopped on the uneven amount of veg bakesspilt coffe into saucer with no attempt to clean it. Waste of money and time. Im not sure the next customer would tolerate that. It was almost as if we jad completely inconvenienced her by simply being paying customers. I wouldn't...

Magic Cafe is a gem in East Oxford. The food has been consistently scrumptious in an entirely wholesome bite! The seasoning and flavours of their salads - wow, always hits the spot, and are energising too. They are a very easy going and chilled out establishment. Friendly and non assuming. The cafe plays host to a changing display of local visual arts. I’ve been going for 9 years, alone, with friends, with family … and each time it’s a pleasure.

If you are vegetarian and visiting Oxford, then this is certainly a good option worth exploring. I was getting tired of continental food and thought of trying it. It took me more than an hour to reach this place from my hotel. But I am glad I made the decision to visit here. I loved the food and homely ambiance. I ordered the Indian food with dal, rice, salad and a dosa. It tasted little different but still good.
