Terrible service, to the point of rudeness:
I had an experience first dining in-house where the service was great, as was the whole meal. Sadly a terrible home delivery meal ruined the reputation of the restaurant for me and my friends.
Initially we were prepared to give Everest some slack for the mistakes that were made, namely we had a 1h 27min wait having been promised 30-35 mins and we paid for a dish that then wasn't delivered!
Of course this is far from ideal, but we thought perhaps some orders just slip through the net, maybe it was someone new who took our order etc. However, the reaction I got from the manager was truly terrible. We didn't get refunded for the missed dish nor offered compensation (both were refused when asked for).
We were given a £4 voucher with the meal but that was a standard loyalty offer which was given before we'd discovered the missed dish and even then by Everest's own terms for the amount we spend it should have been more!
The thing that really capped it off was when I was on the phone to the manager (being incredibly polite despite being quite annoyed and hungry by this time) he had the cheek to rush me off the line - just a shade away from hanging up on me.
The summary of my calls up to the dish arriving (thanks to call logging!): Call to place the order at 2004. Asked to call a different number which I did at 2006 and was told the food would be here in about 30-35 minutes. At 2100 a call to see where the food was, told the driver was just leaving. At 2123 another call abut this order. And at 2131 the food arrived, minus one main dish.
Having thought we'd found a great restaurant we now no longer want to give Everest any more of our...
Read moreWe went to Everest for a New Year's Eve curry for 6, whilst OK it wasn't anything above average. We haven't tried takeaway from here, which I imagine is probably fine, but there are many better options nearby on Cowley Road or in central Oxford.
The portions were about average for a standard issue British-Indian curry house. The food wasn't anything to write home about.
The curries were hot and properly cooked, but the flavours were just OK. The sides and bread were a bit disappointing. The wine wasn't great, and the beers were your standard options (Cobra etc).
The service was OK, if a little disappointing considering there were only 3 tables occupied. Our menus weren't taken, festive Christmas crackers were appreciated but then the rubbish wasn't cleared away, and our wine glasses were filled to the brim when the waiter opened a new bottle, meaning there was only about 1 glass per...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at this restaurant left me deeply disappointed. Despite informing the staff about my religious dietary restrictions, I was served a dish containing meat, which goes against my vegetarian beliefs. What truly added to my frustration was the lack of any apology or acknowledgement of their mistake. The service I received was far from satisfactory; the waiter's behavior was not only unhelpful but also surprisingly rude. When we approached them to rectify the incorrect order, their responses were dismissive and inadequate. This kind of customer service is not only disappointing but also disrespectful. I strongly caution anyone seeking a positive and considerate dining experience to avoid this...
