Located in Penarth town centre, offers a mix of high table seating and standard tables. The atmosphere is inviting, though the layout feels slightly divided between casual and a bar. The Negroni was disappointing as overly diluted and lacking the bold bitterness that makes the cocktail shine. The burnt orange garnish added a pleasant smokiness, but it couldn’t save the overall balance. The red mullet itself was fairly basic, but the dish was elevated by the hospitable cabbage and a flavorful green sauce with sobrasada butter. The artichoke had great flavor, but some pieces were excessively chewy and would have benefited from a longer grill time. However, the almond romesco with truffled Manchego was excellent and rich, nutty, and deeply satisfying. The baby squid with Fino, garlic, and herbs was well-executed, delivering delicate flavors with just the right amount of seasoning. For January, they offer a roll of the dice for a discount of up to 44% off , I landed 22%, which was a fun touch. While some dishes showed promise, a few missteps held the experience back. Worth a visit, but with tempered expectations.

I haven't been to Bar44 for a few years and popped in for their croquettes which I used to have. I didn't see the menu but was asked how many I would like as they are now charged per croquette. The young man didn't tell me the cost and I didn't ask, wrongly assuming the dish would be about £6 to £7. How wrong was I!!! Terribly expensive at £2.80 per croquette!! They were the size of half a golf ball and bland. I was very disappointed, paid seeing no point in complaining and won't be returning.

We've been to the bar 44 in Cardiff Centre loads of times as we love it, penarth was no different. We're both vegan, and the menu was great, they made sure to use vegan wine in our sangria, and our waiter recommended the artichoke, which was amazing, really nice a smoky.the whole meal was really reasonably priced, and we didn't feel rushed at all. The location is great, perfect after a walk along the pier, we'll definitely be back again at some point, thank you Bar 44 Penarth!

Upon entering, one is immersed into an authentic experience where no detail is too small to be overlooked, from the cutlery holders to the staff attire. On repeated visits, we have found bar 44 to be flawless in every regard, particularly in respect to the culinary offerings. The attention to detail shines through with every bite, authentic ingredients used (at great expense) to enhance the taste sensation which results in consistently superb food. In an age where the current pressures are resulting in many establishments to, understandably, cut corners, it is refreshing to see that the impeccably high standards at bar 44 are maintained. The staff, Nick in particular, were impressively knowledgeable about the food, answering questions in intricate detail. The passion for the food and culture is evident from Nick's enthusiastic explanation of ingredients and dishes. Bar 44 really is an experience to be anticipated and savoured. Having visited many times, the adherence to high standards is...

TAKEAWAY ONLY ** Ordered takeaway food. Good range of tapas and appreciate having a specific vegan menu. Always makes life easier. Reasonable price. The food was nice. But...and I didn't really realise how strange this was until we actually sat down to eat the food at home. They asked us to sign a disclaimer to say they were not liable if the food made us ill. Can't really wrap my head around the manager or chef's thought process. If you are uncomfortable preparing takeaway food then perhaps don't do takeaway!? Because asking customers to sign a wholly ineffectual disclaimer in the event your food makes them ill kind of sends the wrong message don't you think? Deducted one point for creating mild concern that took away from the pleasure of the...
