It’s our 25th wedding anniversary and we wanted a romantic meal with good food. We were a little bit early but they weren’t busy. Usual menu chat and we went for the Prosecco as it’s our 25th anniversary. Lovely window table. Not too busy. Had some sides as a starter and the olives were lovely. Garlic bread okay but not that special. A bit too much cheese. Risotto and spaghetti was lovely. But then we became invisible. No one checked if our food was okay. Watched other diners get served and table cleaned but not us. We finished our plates 20 minutes ago and were stretching out our overpriced Prosecco. Servers were seeing to other diners in our area but we were invisible still. Our plates were drying out now and half glass left each , this is spoiling our night! 40 minutes after our food was finished and sauces dried on our plate, our server realised no one had been to our table. Sorry sorry it’s my fault, yes it is. No offer of free anything or discount! Manager came over with a feeble excuse of ‘I saw you picking at the bread and olives( we weren’t!) so I thought you hadn’t finished’. Would you like to see the dessert menu? No thank you our taxi is here, can I have the bill? Came back with another sorry and a sharp lemon shot. ‘Hope this makes up for the delay’. No not really. Paid bill. Not offered anything. Left no tip. Someone shouted thank you as we left out the front! Really disappointed, will never go back! Sid’s just next door is much better service as we went there the day before! Romeo’s fell flat and lost us...
Read more"I'm writing to express my disappointment with the service during our recent visit. We arrived early for our 7:30 PM reservationbut were rushed to order by 7:25 PM. Even though that was five minutes before our table was booked for??
Despite enjoying our wine and the view wanting to build up an appetite and enjoy our relaxed Friday evening , we felt pressured to order quickly, with the older blonde lady insisting we order immediately and stood by us when we chose our food. This rush made me panic-order a meal. We decided to leave after our meal, skipping dessert and another drink, even though we were told we could stay as long as we wanted after ordering. The bill took ages to arrive and no one came to check to see if the meal was okay. The restaurant wasn't busy, so the rush felt unnecessary. While the food was enjoyable and served quickly, the overall service made us uncomfortable and has discouraged me from returning, which is a shame as I've enjoyed the food on previous visits. We payed the £5 service charge as we were asked is it ok to pay service charge. I felt to cheeky to say not to as that’s not on my nature I am a quiet relaxed person that just enjoys dining out with nice views. This has put me...
Read moreWent back to Romeos for Father's Day (table for 12) after a recent, first, visit. Great welcome, really excellent food and drink, authentic atmosphere, all meals came to the table together, hot and perfectly prepared and served by charming, cheerful and helpful staff. Going back there today for an early evening meal. Romeos will be one of our favourite places to eat in future. Can't understand the previous comment about 'poor decor, cheap tables and paper napkins'. Romeos is freshly decorated in a simple authentic style, spotlessly clean and with great ambience. The writer of these sour comments obviously entirely missed the whole point of the place and, inexcusably, made no mention of the splendid reasonably priced menu and...
