I've been here before but this time was a different experience. It was 'steak night' and an eat out to help out night so to my dismay I was told they weren't serving steaks 'due to an issue with an extractor fan in the kitchen'.. disappointing but I was tired & hungry so ordered a hunters chicken instead which apparently was still ok to order. Due to the covid response I was advised i could sit at my table & didn't need to wear a mask unless i need to leave the table for anything.. I noticed there were some screens put up between some of the tables & at the bar. No one in the pub was wesring a face mask even those not at a table. I noticed the staff weren't wearing face masks either - even the servers who were bringing food from the kitchen to people sat at the tables.. and clearing glasses from tables/wiping down. My food took about 45mins to arrive. I couldn't understand why as it was quiet in there. Pre covid you could help yourself to condiments & the servers would come and ask if your food was ok.. this time I had to leave my table just to ask for some butter for my potato. Overall I found the experience not great and I'll wait a few more weeks before possibly attempting to come back here again. It is a nice pub but there's obviously some kinks...

Lovely team and a great service. With the high volume the team deal with during the day I come in close to close and all the team are still smiling and really nice people and a good chat. Big respect to the team at The Brit. Its nice to drink in a wetherspoons where the staff care and enjoy their work. I came in Friday night and was particularly impressed by their shift leader. Great vibe and a really nice way with his colleagues and customers.

The manager on shift tonight, Mark, was very attentive and lovely, chatty and cares for the venue cleaning and making sure everything was right from customers to clean tables and Uther the shift Leader was such a pleasant bloke to chat to even whilst closing and busy with tasks, a very interesting and also talented guy and also a lovely colleague with pink hair who was very nice and attentive and very helpful.

The shift supervisor from Friday, I believe he was called Will, was fantastic. A real 3 true credits in your company here.

I hate to say it.... I've found a spoons I actually like! Don't...

Arrived with my party for a reserved table. Very friendly chap gave us all the info we needed re ordering and paying, party was two short because of the illness currently doing the rounds in Plymouth. This was no problem. Only two of us had pre booked meals, the rest had opted for menu meals "on the day". Our orders were dealt with very quickly and all the meals arrived almost together. Our table was well laid out. The staff were very efficient in their dealings with us as well as working with a smile. I had opted for the Turkey Pie as the normal Turkey Christmas meal is, alas, no longer available. I was pleasantly surprised, it was lovely and tasty. My colleagues had various meals and all were well pleased. A very relaxed and tasty meal served by friendly staff. The "still at work" friends had to head off whilst us retirees remained for a chat and an extra drink, there was no rush and we did not feel under pressure to vacate our table. Thank you to the staff, we have been before and will return in a month or two for another...

Wow! What a contrast to the other Wetherspoon in the area! Building is much smaller but the service is fantastic!!! What great staff! Bar lady was really nice and even offered to explain how the coffee machine worked. The waitress was cheerful and cracked a joke. A member of staff even came out to chase off a seagull in the garden area... All made for a lovely experience. Food was bang on. Other people's plates were really presentable too. Site is really clean, so clean that when a customer dropped an item from their pocket the staff lady spotted it and picked it up. I'd give 6 stars on this one if I could.

Food was awful, portion sizes of chips for adult is horrendous, when mentioned about the lack of chips, we had a sarky comment from the waitress..the lemon and herb chicken was cremated so only a small bit of chicken was edible, the chicken wrap ( the chicken is processed chicken and not chicken breast) was slimy and not nice to eat..the steak was nice but went for the gourmet steak which came with sauce and onion rings etc. Only 3 mini onion rings and peppercorn sauce was not mixed well at all. Won't eat food here again. Food prices go up, value and quantity goes down.

We'd always swerved this place, because after climbing that mountain from the railway station to here, then finding that you might have to queue for a week to get in, has always been off-putting. In the past we've always followed police advice, and walked to the next pub, where the local faction of the Green Army have always told us that they wouldn't be seen dead, in here!.. Wonder where they go now, because that one's closed, and this place is cheap and cheerful, and alright in my book.
