So we went on a lovely lil dog walk along some lovely sights. Low and behold, we get to outside the Royal oak and hear the doors unlocking with us knowing we had to have a lil tipple on this lovely day. £9.50 for two haze and 10mins later we're having a lovely sit down in the sun. Absolutely lovely lil pub by the water. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. And the fact they made sure Coco the pup had some turkey just made even better! Honestly 10/10. Will definitely have to come here again!

This place is lush! The interior is lovely, the staff were attentive and the food was delicious. We had 4 regular roasts and one small roast on a Sunday, the portions were fantastic, the veg was delicious. Will be coming here again for sure!

My friends and I walked from Mount batten to the Royal Oak. We sat outside. The lady (waitress) was so warm and friendly. Great place 👌❤️

The land lady couldn’t have been more rude and unwelcome. Very unprofessional. Hoping to just come in for a nice drink and some food, and instead of kindly letting us know before we bought drinks that they were fully booked (which would have been understandable), we were told very rudely (after buying our drinks) that we had to stand and they didn’t have enough food for us. Kindly a table of guests said they weren’t using all their chairs and let us sit - this is the helpfulness and kindness you would expect from the owner. Following this when we left and said thank you (which we didn’t need to) she rudely lifted her eye brows. Wondering what we had done? Just trying to spend money in your pub and have a nice time. Very strange and unfriendly service and would not...

Sunday 17th November 2019 The oak has yet again new management from two weeks ago and what a great job he had done in only two weeks. The radiators are on and working with a real fire going in the lounge end making it toasty and cosy. Sky sports has been fitted with new TVs and he started selling Sunday lunch last Sunday . The Sunday roast was delicious one of the best I have had in the village. Some of the prices are a little high but this is the brewery dictating ... In January the brewery are being taking over bya well known chain so prices will be more reasonable. The oak is in a fab location and is coming back to the fabulous eating and social venue it...

I had a culture shock when I entered for the first time in probably 9 yrs.......it looked stark, bare, sooo unloved. And hardly anyone drinking. I used to pop in every Friday after work and it was always so vibrant, busy and a real local. And people used to eat food here regularly....come especially. The landlord was very welcoming and the real fire was glowing and the beer was excellent. What a shame.....sooo sad. It's in such a lovely location too and a good looking building......circa 1779, so steeped in history. Come on people of Hooe.....help to rebuild it......and the Company that owns it......spend some money on a...
