A fantastic restaurant / bar with lovely views, great drinks selection & food let down every single time by the lady with dark short hair and glasses..
Visited a couple of weeks ago with my partner for a couple of beers and had a nice warming welcome from the gentleman on the bar (sorry for not catching your name) We asked if we could sit upstairs for a nice view and quiet surroundings he said of course only to be greeted by a miserable member of staff who clearly did not want us there as she huffed and puffed with her laptop and scuttled into what I can only imagine was the office / staff room ( we were clearly an inconvenience)
We put this ooccasion down to perhaps her having a bad day so did return today (New years day) had the most amazing welcome again and was made coffee by a lovely lady who on the receipt reads as Catherine ( I hope this is accurate. She was trying to do a number of things at once such as make drinks, greet people all while taking the Christmas tree down and still had a smile on her face.. Less I can say for her colleague with the dark short hair who was yet again miserable as sin and clearly should not be working in the hospitality sector.
She has absolutely zero situational awareness whatsoever either that or she just does not care.. I do hope it is not the manager ( how embarrassing) the rest of the team are amazing and I will return but if somebody from St Austell brewery is reading this do yourself a favour and get rid of her she really is letting...
Read moreBouncing burgers! Very disappointing, I ordered the House made steak burger: two 100g patties topped with mozzarella cheese, baby gem and tomatoes served with chips To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Priced at £19, I am still trying to digest the burgers which when asked how was the food, I described as dry and overcooked. They were the toughest I have ever eaten and I even showed to the staff their solidity by dropping one on the plate, whereupon it bounced. Apparently the kitchen’s response was that for food safety they have to cook them fully throughout. I was given no alternative option nor spoken to about the food again until I complained and the price of my drink was taken off the bill. I don’t think this is good enough and it grieves me to recount such disappointment when eating out is both expensive and a much rarer event than it used to be. Unless you like solid, bouncy, dry burgers, I suggest you may not order...
Read moreMade our debut at The Bridge for Sunday lunch on a very wet lunchtime. Reasonable amount of parking right outside. There's a downstairs bar area which we glimpsed before we were ushered upstairs to a fairly spacious and well furnished area with around 9/10 tables. Lots of sea n boat paraphernalia but the view was impressive across quayside towards the city centre. There's seating on outside decking which looked great - but not in the rain! The service was cheerful and quick. We had the beef roast and the chicken roast - ample portions and thankful we didn't have starters....because we wanted dessert. Orange cake for one of us and sticky toffee pudding for the other. Generous servings. With drinks, the bill came to £95 for 3 of us. We tipped. We'll come back and perhaps with friends knowing that it's got a good laid back atmosphere...
