Unlike lots of pubs bearing the name, the Brewhouse & Kitchen really *is* a Brewhouse. They have their own micro brewery right there in the seated area boasting their award-winning brews. The place used to be the White Horse, but opened as B&K early December. It's a small British chain, but they do a brilliant job of making it feel unique and local. The selection of beers on draught and in cans is really interesting, and the staff are very knowledgeable about what they're selling. In fact, the staff were all excellent. We turned up Sunday afternoon without booking (4 of us + a baby) and they fitted us in with just a 15min wait. The food is very fairly priced: £12ish for a roast with huge portions - particularly the chicken! - and beer suggestions to match your food. Baby and dog-friendly, lots of space outside including heated sheds, perfect on a cold day. Also lots of veg and vegan options. A brilliant Sunday lunch, we'll definitely be back.

Martin is a legend! (Magnus) We went for the brewery experience having won it off a Christmas raffle for my fathers birthday. Warm and friendly welcome, great vibes very relaxed. We were given a bacon roll for starters, and a brief introduction then we cracked on brewing! Ive never encountered someone with so much knowledge in brewing and he was super in-depth and answered any questions in great detail. Absolutely amazing. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. We were given complimentary beers included in our experience, which were so lovely. However it did make the cycle back up portsdown hill all the more challenging. We were then given lunch and I had the fish and chips which was super yummy, the chips were fab and the fish was perfect. We were given 2 free barrels of beer with our experience which I’ve just recently tried and it was excellent. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

I recently treated my dad to the Whisky and Beer Masterclass at Brewhouse & Kitchen for his 70th birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience. The session was led by Jordan, an incredibly knowledgeable and passionate expert who guided us through the origins and brewing processes of their beers. We sampled five unique beers, each paired with a complementary whisky, which were surprisingly harmonious. The atmosphere was lively, with our group of 12 enjoying plenty of laughter and camaraderie. The tasting notes provided were invaluable, allowing us to record details like ABV, ingredients, and tasting notes. After the tasting, we enjoyed a delicious meal from the Academy menu; the chicken schnitzel was a perfect choice after the drinks. Highly recommended for a fun and educational experience with friends or family. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

Our server this evening whose name I did not unfortunately get was outstanding, professional and courteous throughout the entirety of our stay! It was a shame that the overall look of the place was spoilt by extension leads and a showroom of different low budget heaters that adorned the walkways! The food main dishes were pleasant enough, however the Parmesan and Rosemary frites lacked a key ingredient, we were politely informed that they were currently out of Rosemary, would’ve been lovely if they had informed us when making that selection, and the seasoned frites also seem to lack any kind of seasoning which had our group questioning where our culinary adventure would take us next, then came dessert and we knew exactly where we would be treated next, chocolate pudding came out in a dish that resembled an ashtray and a pudding that looked like a cow pat, as aesthetically pleasing as this was it tasted ok, the cherry Bakewell slice lacked a quantity of custard befitting this delicacy which was also served in an ashtray! As for drinks I played it safe with a cider, there were many craft beers on offer however not one to have much worldly experience with craft beers I was limited on choice and didn’t fancy a pint of ale of unknown quantity, and was unwilling to spend £6-£7 on a pint of something that may well have been fruity, bitter or something that tasted like an old ladies armpit, so it would’ve of been nice to of had something available that was more familiar. However I may well be to blame for my inexperienced palate on craft ales which I have to except is my own fault! In summary great service, mediocre food, and a delightful taste of the unknown on beverages and a health and safety heating trip hazard waiting to happen! Would totally recommend this place to everyone...

I've visited this place 3 times now. Seems like a glorified weatherspoons that's a remnant of the hipster crowd indulging in IPA's. The £11 fritter steak is a good budget option that I have had on 1 occasion. The Garnish was dead and miscolored but for £11 it was manageable. On my 2nd visit I've had a Chicken Schnitzel and extra tripple cooked fries. The Garnish as on my first visit was dead. Schnitzel had nothing to do with schnitzel. Coleslaw was great though. Most dissapointed with one of the staff trying to upsell some sort of red cider. Even though I refused 3 times buying that cider yet he still poured it for me but I was to hungry to argue. triple cooked fries were not triple cooked. On My 3rd visit today (yesterday lunch) I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel again and the prawn skewer. They got the schnitzel right (Yay meat was tenderised).Coleslaw was great again. Fries run of the mill. Garnish dead again. I have to ask why dish out dead garnish that is un-appealing and just thru a cold bath and a little loving/choice could be made better even if you ordered it a few days ago and kept in the fridge? The Prawn skewer Just a joke of 2 x skewers of 3 overcooked, non-butterflied, under-sized and overcooked prawns per skewer for £8.50 yet again served on dead yellowed garnish with blemishes and old chimi-churi sauce. I won't be risking coming here for food again. Lovely beer garden though and might come here for drinks only...

I have visited brewhouse for years now always for the pub garden! it’s a lovely place and never had any issues, Me and my partner went along a few weeks ago for a few drinks, after seeing the food menu we decided to get some. I am gluten free myself so i asked for a menu. once i decided what i wanted i went to the bar to order. it was meant to be £21 for 3 small plates but when placing the order i got told its £25 i asked why and the guy at the bar said “oh because its gluten free” i don’t mind as i understand that gluten free things are more dearer. food came quickly but no cutlery or sauces were given or offered, Food was amazing i wont lie about that and great portion sizes but after a while i knew i was given gluten after not eating it for Months. this made our visit short and had to go home and was feeling unwell for the next few days. We emailed in for this to get sorted and to be made aware but the person who responded to the email felt like it was our issue? we got given a old gf menu with the wrong prices, i understand this can happen but then the manager decided that everything was fine and nothing more can be done. not even a apology. this made me think twice if i want to come back and eat again. being gluten free is difficult and...
