Lovely sunny, warm day at Southsea Kite Festival today [Sat 27th July 24]. Many wonderful kites displayed over the common. Kite display teams in the area. There are plenty of food and drink choices from the many kiosks, Kite sales, specilised child clothing, young childrens sensory class tent, live music. Car parking on Seafront and on common. DDay and Pyramid Centre Car Parks also available. Use RINGO car park app, as its easier to extend your ticket and not have to take a long trip back to the car each time. Allow 6hrs to have a nice day and relax in the sunshine and stroll along the Seafront. Beware, car parks empty and long queues after 4pm...

This is a lovely place. Attractions, Amusements, food and fun at one end of the strip. Castle, The D-Day Story and more at the other end. In the central roadside area there is a beautiful Navel memorial. Lovely well kept area. Great for picnics, playing and dog walking. Plenty of parking in the car parks or across the beach front. Head across the fort towards Portsmouth and Gunwarf Quay. It's maybe a 15-20 min walk, but it's a beautiful one. I visit Southsea quite regularly and will continue to do so in the future. My photos are of Beach Dubbin we attended Sunday 4th August.

Apart from extreme December coldness this destination was great whilst we waited for our Ferry to France. Great outdoor toddler play area. Tea,coffee and free toilets at the seafront. Amusements and bowling are seasonal so check online. Loved watching the Hovercraft to Wight leave and return every ten mins. Careful of flying debris, sand and pebbles if you observe very closely though! Good time wasting awaiting boarding ferries. Not enough for my families hols destination personally, couple hours great

Large grassed picnic area by the beach with picnic benches, seating, parking along the seafront and in a large carpark too. Large, safe fenced Play area perfect for children to run around. Near the pebble beach, Solent wheel, blue reef aquarium, Southsea castle, natural history museum, Southsea rock garden, hover craft rides and both piers with arcades and eateries. Free standing cash points can be found here near the arcades and restroom facility by the carpark too. Beautiful views of the harbour!!

Great location for a walk along the coast. Good view of the traffic going in and out of Portsmouth harbour without getting your feet wet. You can access Southsea castle, near where Henry the 8th watched the Mary Rose sink. (Free entry) A great water feature on hot days makes this a good place for young kids to have a splash about. The memorial is a sobering monument to all those brave people who didn't make it through the 1st and 2nd world wars. The D-day experience brings some of that to life.
