Lovely for a family day out. It has the seaview, nice people working there, fun rides for all age groups, a minigolf, the arcade, nice ice cream and food. The funfair is small but it has all kind of rides and because of its size your older kids will find you easily if you couldn't go with them on the "fast spinning and tilting thing" because you were waiving at your little one on the merry train. Overall a very retro place in the good old fashion British style, which has a good vibe. In my opinion the arcade could use a bit of an update. I personally loved Space Invaders on giant screen as I used to beat all records back in the days but I couldn't convince the kids to partner me at shooting... One thing missing: toilets. There's a public toilet (20p charge) right outside the Pier (that is not a Pier after all) but it closes before the Pier's closure. Luckly there are pubs around. I paid £ 8.99 for a wristband which is appropriate, I would say, and parking after 6 pm is free. Outside the amusement park you can enjoy walking on the beach while throwing pebbles in the sea, watching the hovercraft arriving and then leaving again or just chilling out at the park with its play area and jungle gym. Portsmouth is a clean...
Read moreI went to the amusement Park with my young grandchildren - I'm a young grandparent not yet 60. It was OK I guess, very noisy, small, but it did have a fair few rides on offer. I rode the Seal boats, the roller coaster and the cup & saucers. The prices vary from 3 quid a pop to 5. None offered value for money in my opinion esp because the rides were all so short on duration! It was, however, a clean area and was safety conscious, and all the staff were quite friendly and helpful. Having spent over £30 in a very short time though and the children only mildly excited then I wouldn't be keen to repeat the experience as there are many better ways to have an enjoyable half an hour I think.
The amusement archades were again OK but not great. Lots of games were the same - the tired old push 2p games in particular, the accustics were awful with loads of different & loud music competing with itself, and the most enjoyment gained by the kids were the imaginary 'rides' they took on the London bus, which of course, cost nothing!
Call me old fashioned, but the kids scooting along the newly surfaced sea front bought them far more joy and lasted a...

Not the cleanest most amazing place in the world, not that I found anything wrong with it because I wasn't looking. But it's just not the most modern, heavily funded area.
With a stone beach nearby, lovely walking spaces and then more arcades than you can shake a fist at its a great time for little families.
We focused on the food and the arcades which is all im strictly reviewing, but it must earn some bonus points because around there are many other interests like an aquarium, fairground rides and a museum I've heard.
I personally as a 25 year old man had a real sweet craving that day, and I was unfortunately spoilt for choice. I bought a lot.. I'm slightly ashamed..
If you're watching your weight, take your eyes off it when you venture here. That weight is gonna climb like a monkey lad. Ice creams on every corner, fish and chips, plenty of sweets, chocolates and coffees. More than enough serviceable food to grab a snack at.
I had a nice experience on a warm day with friends and felt like a kid in a candy shop the whole day, quite literally.
Yours sincerely, a southamptoner....
