What a wonderful stay! From the minute we arrived to the very last second of departure, Steve and Mubi could not have been any more welcoming or attentive! Incredible hospitality!
Honestly superb from start to finish. Check-in was made super simple with an email from Steve the day before informing us where to report to first thing. We then got shown around the accommodation and facilities before being seen to our room. By our surprise we had been given a wonderful Suite in the adjacent building to the communal property. (the accommodation is spread over two main buildings) Our room was complete with a four-poster bed, large sofa and TV, Amazon Alexa/Echo, huge kitchen space with appliances and a lovely bathroom. It was like having our own mini apartment!
Steve also provided us with his mobile and we could message him throughout our stay with any questions or queries we may of had. This really made us feel at ease.
Our room was situated down the corridor from the spa facilities which we made use of and thankfully booked for the evening of our stay. Well worth the extra £25pp spend! Upon our 1 hour time slot, Mubi showed us how to use the sauna, steam room & hot tub/jacuzzi. She even said we could use the steam room as part of what we booked. We also opted for a bottle of Prosecco to enjoy while in the hot tub. Best way to relax.
The communal area of the accommodation features a very large bar area with Sonos system, ping pong table, air hockey, pool table and table football. This is available to all guests and a great place to crash or chill out after a day shopping.
Overall would strongly recommend Ashby’s and would look to stay here again. Excellent value for money with Steve and Mubi being ever so attentive and welcoming. Their hospitality goes above and beyond and really do make you feel at home. Thank you for having us and I hope to...
Read morePoor show! Due to Storm Arwen last weekend our trip to the UK was delayed. As a result I had to quickly rearrange timings, ferries, logistics, accommodation etc.
I hurriedly booked Ashby’s Accommodation and will accept that I did not notice their cancellation policy at the time of booking, in my defense the ‘free cancellation’ filter is always applied when using Booking.com.
However I became aware that, as I’m a bit of a car nut and my car is precious to me, that their parking arrangements were in my view unsuitable and contrary to what was stated within their facilities as noted.
Again, under a bit of time pressure, I booked alternative accommodation and within the hour cancelled with Ashby’s Accommodation to only then become aware of their cancellation policy. I messaged Ashby’s Accommodation asking if I would indeed be charged and was met with a resounding YES. No amount of pleading with the owner made a difference. I make note here that they did eventually offer parking that would possibly have been more suitable but I had, as mentioned, booked elsewhere with the knowledge that this booking was not refundable etc.
Just to also note part of our trip is based in Devon and the well known budget hotel chain we also had a booking with changed our non changeable non refundable booking without issue and we even received a small refund as the new day/dates worked out slightly cheaper.
I feel that actually insisting on charging for a very quickly aborted, so no impact on other potential business booking, is very poor show and has never happened to us before. In my opinion, and for what it’s worth, this is not the best business practice to adopt.
We are all living in strange times and we believe that a little bit more tolerance and understanding is without doubt needed...
Read moreI was a bit tentative at first, upon reading he check-in procedure, which is not in the accommodation itself, but the owners' property, directly adjacent. However, the stay exceeded our expectations. The proprietors, Steve and Mubi, were such fantastic hosts, both via email and in person. Our room was very comfortable, and I noted that this would be a great place to stay for a few days, and definitely would have brought my son here for a mini-break back when he would deign to do holidays with me. It was private but definitely had a lovely home feel. The owners have clearly put A LOT of thought into making this a great stay for their guests. You could tell that people were very happy staying there . I did have some trepidation because of the reviewer who slated it, but my experience was the opposite. Moral of the story - if you don't want to have the guided tour where things are made very clear how it all works and how to get your parking etc etc, then you might not have the experience you were (somehow) expecting. Is it a 'typical' B&B? No - but that is in fact, very much part of the charm. If you are willing to meet with one of the owners upon check-in for 3-5 minutes of your time, it is well worth your while and you can make the most of your stay. ||One of the last things we said when we checked out is that we look forward to coming back. We do different little mini-breaks across the South and this was one...
