Good food (for the most part), but leaves a lot to be desired. My first disappointment was drinks, they do not have alcohol, which is not a big problem as this is quite common with this kind of cousine but the prices for soft drinks are on the high side, not only that but out of the 5 drinks we wanted 3 of them were not available. Food was good, except for some of the wraps, my friend was disappointed with his veggie wrap and my kofta wrap was just that, just kofta meat wrapped in flat bread, no salad or veggies to speak of.
Mixed grill aswell as starters were really nice. Portion sizes are small, I would recommend getting a mixed grill if you are hungry, it might be shareable in 2 if you are getting starters.
The biggest problem for this restaurant is that all the other middle Eastern restaurants are better, I've been in a few dozen, and this is the only one that didn't give me starters and baklava with tea as part of the service charge.
If this is your first middle Eastern experience you'll probably love it, some of my friends did, but know that there are better...
Read moreI'd have to say this was mediocre at best. Possibly a 3.5 but no more. I had the meze which was all perfectly fine but nothing outstanding at all. The falafels were rather dry, perhaps a touch over cooked. The humus came with small pieces of lamb on top which were tough and bland and in no way complemented the hummus which was by itself rather tasty. It was a delightful parsley based salad which was very enjoyable and I tried a yoghurt mint drink which was excellent and just what was needed after rather rich food. I'd avoid the sausage and tomato dish as it's particularly dull. Avoid the pickled vegetables at all costs. They are salty to the point of being inedible. The olives are rather cheap but pleasant. I'm not sure I'd go back there but if I was in Portsmouth and somebody said they really wanted to have meze with me, I probably would go in that particular circumstance. It's a dry restaurant but they do off for corkage so bring a bottle if you wish to have an alcoholic drink. I opted for a rather pleasant Lebanese rosé which I was very...
Read moreWent there while on holiday for a week and were looking for halal places. We had a big group so a big order. Everyone got their meal except three of us who remained sitting and waiting. Eventually one of us summoned a waiter over and complained we hadn't had our food...he went over to the serving window and brought over our food. Basically it had been sitting there for ages, probably when the other food was ready, and was no longer hot. Those of us who ordered wraps the menu said wraps came with fries or rice and we just got wraps; when asking that same waiter guy he just dismissively said the fries are in the wrap. The fries were NOT in the wrap and he shouldn't have lied like that. He should've have honestly admitted we were never asked if we wanted fries or rice so the order was just for wraps. This is the reason I disliked it. The food was okay, the shish tawuk was excellent and I had a chicken and halloumi wrap which was also very nice. Shame about the...
