Obviously, this place provides some great views of Portsmouth and this is one of the reasons for visiting The Tower. We attended during The Victorious Festival and it was lovely to see and photograph/ film this event from a unique perspective. The queue was quite long and I think that it would be prudent not to force members of staff to ask for people's emails and post codes. It just adds to the length of time that people have to wait. I understand that it is for marketing purposes, but perhaps this is something that can be individually provided when visitors exit the building. I had to repeat myself quite a few times because of the noise and the process would be quicker if so many questions were not put to visitors. Although these staff members were extremely welcoming, people might be more willing to provide more information after having had the benefit of seeing the impressive and alluring view. The glass floor was interesting and slightly scary to see. There was one brave girl who was doing cartwheels along the floor. The moment at which the purple lights were turned on was thrilling to see from this perspective and I do not know why The Tower is not open for longer hours. Although we did spend over an hour admiring the views, it would have been better for The Tower to have longer opening hours. The very top, The Sky Deck, was slightly disappointing. There were people pushing prams who struggled to get upstairs. I felt really badly and I tried to help. What if someone is a Wheelchair User? What if someone is a Person with a Disability which makes it difficult to access the Sky Deck? With the amount of money that people pay, I think that more could be done to make this part of the Tower more alluring. I am sure that someone can come up with a brilliant idea to make this part of The Tower more exciting. Perhaps a set of swings or similar? The members of staff were lovely. The people in the lift did an excellent job in relation to engaging in conversations with people. For example, the man who was in the lift on 25 August 2024 at 16:00 was nice as was a young man named Albert who worked in the gift shop. Furthermore, there was a member of staff who I think was from Guatemala and he was extremely informative. I can also understand why people have raised issues with the price of admission. While our time at The Tower was lovely, perhaps it might be a good idea for those in charge to inform the public about the costs of running the place to justify the costs of admission. If such information could be placed in close proximity to the tills and if the costs associated with admission were justified, this might lead people to better understand the expense.

One of the main reasons to drive over to Portsmouth was to take a trip up to the Spinnaker Tower to enjoy the views. Even though it was a grey, drizzly day, we paid the high(ish) entrance fees (adult - 15 and child 12,95 Quid respectively) and then took the fast lift up to the main observation deck. We tolerated the almost obligatory photo at the bottom but didn't succumb to the temptation to buy the touristy photos later. At the top, the glass floor looking all the way down to ground level is always fun but certainly not for the faint hearted. On the day we were there the visibility wasn't ideal but we could still enjoy watching the ferries moving in and out of the port and I appreciated the chance to see some of our Naval warships. A helpful member of staff confirmed that the superb aircraft carrier in the middle distance was HMS Prince of Wales. And HMS Diamond was berthed just in front of her. The latter had just returned a couple of days earlier after a mission which included shooting down Houti drones in the Middle East. Then there was the HMS Warrior not far below us in the historic dockyards. From the main observation platform you can walk up some stairs to a small cafeteria and, for the energetic visitors, you can climb a further set of stairs to a smaller observation area which is open at the top to the elements. Of course, visiting with a 9 year old family member meant going everywhere! All in all this was a nice visit - just a little disappointed by the high prices...

I would highly recommend visiting this attraction at least once. The top level cafe offers a stunning view over Portsmouth and is a great place to enjoy a coffee or a slice of the delicious lemon cake. The staff are friendly and welcoming, which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. However, if you're planning to spend the entire day at the attraction, I wouldn't recommend buying a whole day ticket as it can get boring after a while. The upper-level garden area has a lot of potential, but it currently lacks proper landscaping or a variety of flowers that could really make it a unique and special feature of the attraction. The lift staff are also very helpful, providing us with informative and cheerful conversation during our rides. The lift takes only 28 seconds to reach the first level, and we appreciated the helpful information provided by the staff. Although we did not purchase the photos as the lighting quality wasn't up to par, my kids were thrilled to purchase some London souvenirs and even got to create their own with 1p coins. It was a lot of fun and a unique experience that I would recommend for families visiting the attraction. Overall, my family and I loved the attraction, and it was worth every penny. If you plan to visit, make sure to bring a few £1 and 1p coins for the souvenir machines.

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of visiting the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, and it was a truly spectacular experience. The location offers breathtaking views, including the Isle of Wight, the bustling harbour with Royal Navy ships, and the panoramic beauty of Portsmouth itself. The tower features three levels, with the journey starting at reception, where tickets cost £16 for adults. I highly recommend booking online to save £4—perfect for covering a coffee and cake at the sky café! Before heading up, you watch a short, 2-minute film about the local history, which really helps you connect with the sights from the platform. The smooth, fast lift takes you to the first floor, where the largest viewing space awaits, complete with a thrilling glass floor for those brave enough to look down. The second level has a lovely café offering snacks and drinks, with restrooms available here. The third level is an open-air platform, where you can relax on benches and enjoy the fresh air with only a mesh covering above you. On the way down, you pass through a well-stocked gift shop and restaurant, perfect for grabbing a memorable keepsake or a delicious meal. Overall, the Spinnaker Tower is a fantastic place to visit—especially for families or small groups. The views alone make it worth every penny! Highly recommended!

The Tower is quite easy to locate. It is probably the tallest building in Portsmouth and can be seen for miles around. Being our first time in Portsmouth, we used the Tower as a homing beacon. It was quite fun driving to the Gunwharf Quay. Parking was easy and on multi-levels. The best I have seen in a while. The Tower experience was fascinating but a bit disappointing due to the weather. We booked ahead for "High Tea" for the family. This gave us access to all the floors and a tea at noon at the summit. It was a sweltering experience, as the temperature was about 30 degrees Celsius. Although the temperature control in the Tower was barely adequate, we made the best of the "tour" and got some beautiful pictures of the Dockyard and surrounding areas. I must confess the view from the summit was gorgeous. Due to the hot weather, the staff provided us with the option of changing our "High Tea" to a "Low tea" and we got moved to the Spinaker Kitchen on the groundfloor where the weather was tolerable. Overall, it was a fun experience, and I highly recommend it. The best time to visit is definitely in autumn to early spring when the weather is quite cool and the atmosphere in the Tower would be much more conducive. The next bucket list item is the abseiling at the Tower.
