This place is so cozy and relaxing! The owner spent a lot of time last year making this place shine and it shows. They also have board games so if you want to grab a drink and play a game or two with friends, this is a perfect place. The food was wonderful and had a nice variety (especially for this vegetarian). They have a deal on the smaller plates on the weekdays for 3 plates for 15. It’s a good fix to add food to drink. I recommend the halloumi fries, the sauce it comes with is so good. The service is efficient and quick. Every member of the staff I interacted with was ready with recommendations and fast service. They have a gin tasting class that looks very interesting and a brewery tour. Recommendation: Yes, absolutely. Down to earth place that looks super nice and has a rooftop area.

I lived in Portsmouth for a year (I'm from Brazil) and Brewhouse was the first pub I visited in the city. In that time, the place was under construction and the final result was stunning! The outside is already beautiful , and the inside is very cosy, comfy and intimist. The decoration has lots of references to the local beer production. The food is amazing! I've tried almost all the burgers and loved them all! I think the price is a little bit salty, but it is totally worth it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and always gave me nice suggestions of different beers. Brewhouse & Kitchen is one of the places I miss the most in Pompey, and it deserves all the success and nice public.

I write this review to you, dear readers, from beyond the grave. Yes, it is true. For at this venue, I did truly starve to death. Picture the scene. Arriving at an establishment with barely a half dozen tables of patrons. Easy to see there being a lack of a rush, or an sudden burst of business. Eagerly, we engaged in the online ordering process. Using the encouraged ordering system instead of the traditional method of beckoning a battle-forged member of staff to take our list of nutritional needs. ... Sadly, as amazing as this review started, the ending of the meal itself is just as mired in mediocrity. Waiting an age for the main, several enquiries being told "it's coming right now!"... Eventually it turned up... And honestly. I would have been better off at Burger King. I don't mind waiting, but not for something that's akin to an Iceland beefburger two mins in a microwave.

The food tasted amazing, sadly the portions were dire! We did address this with the staff and were advised that this was the correct amount of chips (all four of us had the same sized portion) The £6+ halloumi fries came in a group of four. The pork burnt ends and the burger tasted really good and was why this gets 3 stars rather than one. The two serving staff working this evening were both new, but the solo bar staff and manager seemed knowledgeable but stretched thin. This was also on a theatre night (the theatre is right next door) and you would have expected there to be a few more members of staff around on this evening. The wait time was poor, but the manager addressed this with us at the end of our meal.

We ordered the "half a kilo of wings" and nachos, the wings came as BBQ instead of buffalo. The kitchen accepted responsibility for this however When they came back the BBQ wings had just been covered in buffalo sauce. 12 wings were returned to the kitchen and 9 wings returned, they just threw away the ones we took a bite out of and covered the rest in a different sauce. The staff were really friendly and the management sorted out the situation and refunded us for the wings. Cannot fault them on customer service in that regard. 3 stars instead of four because there were no cocktails as they had run out of the syrup!

Located in an historic old building with Tudor exterior, inside is modernised with a craft beer brewery. Their ale and lager were refreshingly pleasant as you would expect from a name brand beer. The food was typical pub fair and tasty. Their BBQ sauce and baked beans are delicious. The burgers are tasty and filling. The roasted chicken with various rubs are grand and the white meat was tender. The atmosphere is nice, but you forget you’re in an historic building. It conveniently located near the university. And, it can get loud when busy. But, it’s a splendid place early in the evening for a nice tea / supper.
