It's just one of those days when we had a sudden hankering for a good ol' hearty Italian feast which was certainly satisfied by Ask Italian (Preston).
We tried the following: 》Linguine Con Frutti di Mare | Seafood pasta with prawns, mussels, clams & crayfish tossed in a garlic & tomato sauce finished eith parsley & lemon 》Burrata & Pancetta Carbonara | Frilly tagliatelle in a mascarpone cheese sauce & pancetta. Topped with sweet slow-roasted tomatoes, creamy burrata and crispy prosciutto 》King Prawn Al Forno | Juicy king prawns cooked in garlic & herbs, served on toasted ciabatta, Finished with parsley & a squeeze of lemon 》Mushrooms Al Forno | Mushrooms stuffed with mozzarella and aged hard cheese, breadcrumbs and onions, baked on ciabatta, served with garlic mayonnaise 》White Chocolate & Pistachio Tart | A crispy biscuit base with caramelised pistachios & white chocolate ganache, served with toffee sauce 》Limoncello Cheesecake | Creamy Limoncello cheesecake served with a drizzle of berry coulis 》Matcha Tiramisu Martini & Malbec
Very pleased with our dining experience here from the scrummy starters, delectable mains (we were spoilt for choice) to the lovely desserts, innovative cocktails, laid back ambiance and friendly staff.
The dishes were seasoned well and packed with flavour. The pasta was fresh, robust seafood and you could taste the quality of the ingredients used. The desserts were perfectly executed, so hooked on their white chocolate and pistachio tart.
Totally impressed with the vibe of this spot which offers a wide array of selection from breads, pizzas, pasta or risotto, signature cocktails etc. so there's certainly something that would entice anyone's appetite.

Read moreMy family and I came in for an impromptu bite to eat last weekend (16/08/2025), we came in early afternoon and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. There was 7 of us and we hadn't booked but this was no issue for the staff, they put some tables together for us and we're happy to accommodate my mum's allergies. Danny was our waiter and, honestly, it's a long time since I've experienced such fantastic service, if ever, especially as we were pretty much the table from hell. The food was delicious and was sent out unbelievably quickly, but my meal arrived with a healthy sprinkling of black pepper which I hate, so I asked if they could swap out the burrata for one that was pepper free. They remade the whole dish so it was fresh and hot. I wanted to use my Blue Light card, but had forgotten the password to use the app, not a problem for Danny, he just got his manager to input the number on the card. There were several other difficult/irritating requests from us but Danny and the other staff were so gracious and not once did we feel like anything we asked was too much trouble, to say they bent over backwards for us would be a huge understatement. We had the best time, Danny is a great waiter, with a superb sense of humour, he made us feel so welcome. Ask Preston has shot to the top of our favourite restaurants. Absolutely fantastic restaurant with great food and great staff. 100%...

The food was genuinely delicious, and the waiter or manager who served us earlier provided excellent service — we were really pleased at first.
However, when we asked for the bill, a waitress brought it over but didn’t hand it to any of us or explain anything. She only asked whether we were paying by card or cash, but never mentioned that a gratuity had already been added to the bill.
We didn’t notice immediately, as I was about to get some cash ready to tip, but my friend — who paid by card — realised that the bill already included a service charge. This was quite shocking and disappointing, as the waitress made no effort to inform us.
We always tip out of genuine appreciation, regardless of whether it’s a café or a restaurant. But automatically adding gratuity without transparency feels deceptive and disrespectful. It’s not about the money — it’s about honesty and attitude.
This kind of behaviour leaves a very poor impression, especially after what started as a good experience. It’s unacceptable to take advantage of...
