The ambience was nice. Music was a vibe. The staff were attentive and kept our table clear of empty dishes, ensuring we always had drinks and water.
The food was okay. The 'trini doubles' was edible. But not authentic. The chickpeas needed to be cooked more. It was too al dente. Never ever have I had fresh coconut as a garnish on a doubles. The size, well, for £6.40 was more of an hors d'oeuvres size than a starter.
The jerk chicken, the flavours didn't go through the chicken half. So, I was disappointed. The coconut rice and peas were okay. The coleslaw got lost on my plate, though.
My opinions are based on authentic Caribbean food experiences and as an island child.
The portion size was generous.
2-4-1 cocktails were nice.
Just Eat Order Review (UPDATE 18.08.25)
Extremely disappointing! We ordered mac and cheese with jerk chicken, and the flavours were completely lacking. We could NOT taste any cheese. How does mac AND cheese come without cheese?! The jerk chicken was not seasoned properly and did not taste authentic at all.
At £14.79, the price does not reflect the meal received.
As someone familiar with Caribbean cuisine, it’s really frustrating to see places claiming to serve “Trini” or “jerk” dishes when the food is so far from it. People unfamiliar with these dishes may order and form a negative or completely false impression, that’s unacceptable and disappointing.
To improve, the restaurant could focus on using authentic Caribbean seasonings and proper preparation techniques so the dishes actually reflect the flavours they promise. That way, both Caribbean customers and newcomers can enjoy a true taste of...
Read moreCame in for lunch at about 1:30pm. We didn’t get served for about 20 minutes. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited and stayed quiet. 40 minutes pass now and no one came to see us. One member of staff seemed to be ignoring us and was serving people who came in later than us. I flagged down a member of staff who said he would get someone to come and serve us. I think he forgot as we were still waiting for a further 15 minutes (55 minutes total and not even a drink order). People who had come in long after us we’re now eating. One lady came over and took our order, you could tell that she was annoyed with whoever was in charge of our section. We noticed after that some of the bar staff were shaking their heads, muttering about some of the waiters. Our food comes (it’s about 2:50pm now). Tomatoes were replaced with pineapple and chilli, the mushrooms were cold and everything was really spicy compared to the last time we had it. I love spice but my partner doesn’t, which is why he always eats the same thing from there and he struggled with the spice levels this time. We ended up being in a rush after waiting for so long so decided not to send anything back. The lady who had been ignoring us the entire time told us to have a nice day when we were leaving. Overall it was an unpleasant experience, which is a shame because we usually...

Vibrant decor, always has a great atmosphere whether it's busy or not. It caters to a range of guests. Casual stop for lunch when out shopping, a date with your person, catch up with friends, colleague night out!! It does it all.
Service is stupendous. Never had an issue. Always has someone to great you as soon as your walk in. Staff make it a great customer experience and are so quick. We've had the pleasure of having Lottie be our server twice now. She was so lovely and really made our day last time we visited.
I would personally recommend my favourites: mac and cheese bites, the hot sauce it comes with is incredible. Nice kick to it. You HAVE to have the grilled garlic bread. Unique and never had it made like that before. Smokey flavour to it. Spiced/ sweet potatoe fries Are a classic. Sweetcorn/salt fish fritters....any kind if fritter really. It's fried... what's not to love. You arnt enjoying it either without adding sweet plantain and washing it down with a Berry ragea mocktail. So fresh.
There is paid parking close by just behind the bus station and then it's a 3 minute walk to the resturant.
