Marino's Italian Ristaurante & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Preston

I used to visit the restaurant a lot when I lived in Preston and it was one of my favourites. We were in the area and I wanted to stop in on my way through.

It was great to see that the restaurant was still doing really well - it was completely packed at 6pm on a Friday.

I ordered the mussels in cream to start and my partner ordered blue cheese mushrooms. We were both really disappointed with our starters. The mussels were over cooked, small and bland and the sauce wasn't very tasty. The mushrooms were bland, rubbery and small.

At this point I was worried that the restaurant had reduced down on quality to keep prices low. HOWEVER, this concern melted away when we had our mains - they were both fantastic!

I had the Crispella and my partner had the steak in peppercorn sauce. The sauce in the Crispella was delicious, the crepes were deliciously soft, the spinach was super garlicy and the ricotta was tart which just resulted in a fantastic dish.

The steak was cooked to perfection, as were the potatoes and veg, and the sauce was truly delicious.

We were seated at the furthest corner of the restaurant and had quite a few instances of waiting a long time to be served (when ordering or meal and after we'd finished). There were a lot of waiting staff and they seemed quite attentive for the other tables, but we kept missing out.

The meal was just over £40 (we didn't have any drinks), which I feel was a great deal. We may have just been unlucky this time with the starters, but they definitely needed...

Overall a super little restaurant, with a super team and delicious food from a good menu. My only reservation is how noisy it is. 😱 It's a very small cramped space and the acoustics are not good. The noise was shocking and unbearable, it was impossible to have a conversation without shouting and still not being heard. It's a clattery, chaotic atmosphere not helped by the Happy Birthday band that come out to celerating diners with a pair of crashing cymbals and an army of tambourines. 😖 It's quite literally painful to be there. 😩 I accept that there's not much to be done about it but if you want a quiet meal, I think I'd swerve past this restaurant. Pains me to say that because the food is top drawer and the team are bob on. 😞 If you want a noisy, raucous night...with fab food and great service, this is the place...

Stumbled across this lovely restaurant one evening after being at a concert in Blackburn and there being no availability in the restaurants there. My family from up and down the motorway needed somewhere easy to get to and easy to drive home from. Wow! What a find! I have since been back with various people and every single time the food is delicious, the atmosphere is humming and the staff are friendly and helpful- and the price is incredible! We always have large glasses of wine, a main and a dessert each and it rarely comes to more than £22-£25 each! Unbelievable! Doesn't natter which day of the week you come on, it is always busy (in a good way) very popular with locals which is a good sign. It is also a takeaway - good job we don't live nearby as we would be in...
